What are the materials used to make dental implants in India?

Dental implants, which act as roots in India, support restorative teeth. Dental implants in India are used to give restored teeth a new lease on life. People who utilize restorative teeth end up with teeth that aren't just "artificial teeth" that are only in the mouth to "look beautiful," but teeth that chew and fulfil all of the functions that teeth are designed to perform.

We risk ending up with restorative teeth that are effectively dead: teeth that just look good but are otherwise useless to the individual in whom they are placed if dental implants are not used. Obviously, such teeth would be painful for their ‘wearer,’ rather than making life simpler.

One of the most often asked questions about dental implants in India is what material they are comprised of. When people are notified of their prices, they frequently ask this question. As it turns out, a significant percentage of the cost of having restorative teeth installed goes into paying for the dental implants that the restorative teeth will be rooted in, rather than the restorative teeth themselves.

So what are dental-implants in India made from?

Well, for the most part, dental implants in India are made of titanium or (increasingly) alloys of titanium.

To understand why dental implants must be constructed of titanium, it’s crucial to remember that we’re searching for a material that the body will entirely ‘accept’ and integrate with. Dental implants can only supply a root to the restorative teeth if they are completely accepted by the body and integrated with it.  Only titanium, it turns out, has been shown to eventually be ‘accepted’ by the body to the amount required of a dental implant: that is, to the point where blood begins to flow through it and nerve impulses begin to be received.

Dental implants, for the most part, are constructed entirely of titanium. It’s also known as titanium implants. No other metal appears to have been identified as an alternative to titanium as a material for creating dental implants in the nearly sixty years since they were originally developed. There are several grades of pure titanium. Dental implants have traditionally been constructed from grades one to four of it.

More recently, it was discovered that an alloy of aluminum and titanium works just as well as pure titanium in the manufacture of dental implants. The alloy in issue is created with grade five titanium as the primary component, with roughly 6% aluminium and 4% vanadium added for good measure.

This saves roughly ten percent of the titanium that might have been used to make the dental implants in India if they had been manufactured of pure titanium. In dental circles, these alloy-based dental implants are steadily gaining favour. Pure titanium, on the other hand, is still the most widely utilized material for dental implants.
