Chelsea Vs Arsenal: Chelsea Football Club to be without Thiago Silva against Aston Villa after FIFA block clubs from playing Brazilian stars

Chelsea Football Club will have to do without Thiago Silva for matches against Aston Villa and Zenit St. Petersburg after FIFA told five Premier League clubs they cannot use their Brazilian players. Brazil's soccer federation has asked FIFA to invoke rules that prohibit players from representing their clubs in the five days following the international break if the clubs have not sent players to their countries.

World football's governing body has notified Premier League Football clubs affected by the restrictions, as well as the English FA. Eight players from five clubs Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds United, and Chelsea were not allowed to travel to Brazil because the country is on the British government's red list. The players will have to spend 10 days in a hotel in isolation upon their return.

Everton's Richarlison was also prevented from traveling, but due to the good relations between Everton and the Brazilian Football Association, no request was made to ban him from playing. Earlier, Everton had given Richarlison a leave of absence for the Tokyo Olympics.

The ban will run from Sept. 10 to Sept. 14, meaning Silva will not be available for next weekend's Premier League match against Aston Villa or next Tuesday's Champions League opener against Zenit. FIFA rules require clubs to release players for international duty unless there is a prior agreement between the club and the national association.

If Premier League Football clubs ignore these restrictions and allow their players to play anyway, they may have to cancel the 3-0 match under Article 22 of FIFA's Disciplinary Code. However, FIFA is keen to avoid further action and is seeking an amicable settlement.
