Most Common Android Problems and How to Fix Them

Android is definitely the most widespread of all smartphone OSs and, as such, it has the biggest number of users. The number of applications, reliability and functionality of the platform is the main reason for its popularity; however, the system isn’t without flaws. With that in mind and without further ado, here are some of the most common android problems, as well as some tips on how to quickly fix it all.

1.      Low storage

Storage issues aren’t something that happens randomly. Sure, your device needs to be filled with all sorts of files before this can happen. Still, nowadays, SD cards and phones themselves have a lot of storage space, which is why people often forget about this issue entirely. Therefore, they take photos, record, download, install apps and games without checking out their available space. Then, before they know it, their phone is filled with all sorts of useless data. Now, while it is true that we mentioned downloading data as one of the causes of the problem but now, getting a cleanup app might be the simplest and quickest solution to your problem.

2.      High RAM consumption

Uninstalling some apps might be one of the best ways to reduce your phone’s RAM consumption. While there are other explanations why your phone has so much trouble with RAM, the most likely culprit is a scenario in which too many apps run at the same time. The problem with this is the fact that not all of them may be running actively. In fact, you might not even be aware that some of them are always running. Once again, getting a cleaning app is the simplest solution to your problem. Manually uninstalling apps that you don’t use is another effective method you should consider.

3.      Problems with download

The majority of Android problems can be solved with a specialized app. First of all, however, you need to check your internet and your storage space. Either of the two can be a reason why you have trouble with the download in question. Second, you might want to find a reliable download manager. Keep in mind that sometimes an initiated (unsuccessful) download may cause some issues. So, you can try wiping the cache before restarting the download.

4.      Overheating

In a scenario where your phone is turning on and off at random, you might want to check if your battery is overheating. Just check if the back of the phone feels warmer than is normal. The swelling of the battery might also be visible either through the bulge on the back or the discoloration of the screen (since it’s pressing hard against it). In this scenario, the problem is not something that you can fix on your own. Instead, you should look for a service specializing in phone repairs and look for some expert assistance.

5.      Problems with Google syncing

Androids are incredibly Google-dependent. This is why a scenario in which you can’t sync to Google might be a serious issue that requires your immediate attention. First of all, however, you need to make sure that there are no account issues. Perhaps, you’ve changed the password and simply forgotten to update the device’s account details. Also, turning the airplane mode on accident is something that happens surprisingly often. Therefore, you might want to check if this is the issue in your scenario. Lastly, you might want to log out and log in again.

6.      Not responding

The scenario in which your phone will not respond can be quite delicate. This is because you probably can’t turn it off either. So, in order to solve the problem, what you should do is take out the device’s battery and reinsert it. The problem is that some phones have a non-removable battery, which puts you at a bit of a dead-end. In this particular scenario, the solution is usually to press and hold the power button. It may take a couple of seconds for this to give an effect but you must persist until it does.

7.      Wi-Fi issues

Not being able to connect to Wi-Fi is more than a minor inconvenience in the 21st century. Namely, restarting a device, restarting a router or trying to disconnect and reconnect to Wi-Fi may all give some results. You should also check if the airplane mode is on. This trick works the other way around, as well. You can deliberately enter the airplane mode for a couple of minutes and then turn it off. It is also worth checking if the problem is with the Wi-Fi. Asking other people if their devices are suffering the same problem is the first step in diagnosing the issue.

In conclusion

Before you start looking for professional help, you might want to make sure that the problem isn’t something obvious. Turning the phone off and on again sounds like cliché customer service advice but you would be surprised at just how often it turns out to be the actual solution to the problem. The same goes with logging in and logging out. While the above-listed are something that you should be already aware of, you shouldn’t avoid looking up the answer online from another device.
