Sustainable Home Workout Clothes

During Covid, the majority of the world found themselves in lockdown. This saw the shutting of cinemas, shops and gyms. Individuals also put a heavier emphasis on health given the health crisis that was occuring at the time. To overcome this, there was a boom in at home workouts from creators on YouTube and TV stars. Those people started rolling out their workout mats and putting on their headbands to try and get more fit and healthy.

But physical health was not the only type of health that individuals started putting an emphasis on. There was also a heightened interest in the health of the planet. With people all over the world staying at home more, there were fewer emissions and the impact that humans had on the planet and its wildlife started to show. This saw a boost in the number of consumers interested in sustainability.

Working Out At Home Sustainability

Combining these two together, many people placed heightened intrigue and importance on the ability to exercise at home in a way that was also sustainable. Given that individuals could not drive or travel to gyms, exercising at home was already one way in which they could lower their carbon footprint. But aside from this, there were a limited number of alternative ways in which individuals could exercise in a way that improved their sustainability.

This is where environmentally friendly gym clothes became valuable both in terms of their monetary value, but also in regards to its sustainable value. Recent innovative discoveries in materials that could be used as an alternative to fast fashion materials such as polyester allowed this to become possible.

New materials derived from bamboo, organic silk and cotton, recycled denim and polyester were introduced to the fashion industry. Smaller brands were some of the first to take these materials and integrate them into their major product lines. Major labels such as Nike and Adidas quickly followed suit after seeing the success of such sustainable clothes. This put a spotlight on this range of products and widened the awareness of them even more. In return, consumers could exercise at home whilst also practicing sustainable fashion.

How to Remain Comfy During Home Workouts

Sustainable home workout clothes are a great way to remain comfy and motivated whilst doing workouts at home to stay healthy and fit. Sometimes, finding that extra bit of motivation to do a workout can be difficult. But knowing that you have the appropriate gear to exercise in can be a great help.

Workout clothes that are sustainably made should have all of the following features. They should be made from cotton or any other light, natural fabric that breathes well and does not hold in moisture. Also, they should have no dye or chemicals in them. The clothes should be seamless and they should be designed to allow you to use them comfortably and move freely without discomfort. Similarly, they should also be light weight in order for them to be easily put on and taken off.

These clothes can be designed in many different ways to make you look good as well as feel good. Tops for example can be designed in the style of a sports jersey with the pockets inside or outside the jersey. As well as keeping you cool, they can also be designed to be suited for warmth and comfort for workouts such as yoga. Most importantly, given that they are designed for exercise, they should also be able to absorb sweat which can then also be rinsed off easily.

Overall, the ability to exercise at home in a sustainable way has never been more accessible. Brands all over the world are continually finding new, innovative ways to practice workout fashion in an eco-friendly way. Not only are these new materials an improvement for the environment but they are also an improvement on traditional exercise clothes.

This includes organic cotton being lightweight and absorbing more sweat than polyester and sustainable dyes that are less toxic to the environment than traditional dyes. These practical benefits partnered with the environmental benefits of purchasing sustainable clothes for home workouts make purchasing these types of clothing far more attractive than fast-fashion options.
