CLOUD WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: ADVANCING ERP INTEGRATION

The growth stats of the cloud, including cloud-based WMS, continue as more organizations leverage their scalability, resiliency, universal availability, and manageability. While technology operating costs have reduced and controlled, predictable costs are still crucial; they are one of the most important considerations when businesses move to the cloud.

When adopting a cloud-based software model, you weigh the potential risks and benefits.

Cause for Concern:

Security: Leading cloud service providers offer multiple levels of security, from physical to digital infrastructure. To be genuinely secure in the cloud, you need to know exactly what that means, what your responsibilities are to protect the information, and what vulnerabilities you will come across?

Compliance:
Some countries and organizations have compliance issues of where and how data is stored, which reflects in encryption and tokenization standards that need to be used. Organizations need to use SaaS to achieve compliance.

Performance:
Software integrated with a remote data center and utilized through an internet-connected browser may not perform on the same level and responsiveness as a solution integrated with the local environment. Moreover, the speed of the internet is not always what one expects.

Viability:
The world’s leading cloud providers tend to be stable and will not fail. However, if you do business with a new company or a smaller company, they run the risk of failing. What happens to your data and business processes if a service provider goes out of business or you have to change providers for other reasons? If you are working with a smaller supplier, you will need to set up a backup and exit strategy.

Mobile WMS functionality extends ERP in the cloud:

In further development and performance of WMS, leading ERP providers such as Microsoft have integrated warehouse management functions into their ERP systems to provide a complete enterprise infrastructure. Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations Enterprise Edition is still a case study that offers ERP and CRM functionality in the Microsoft Azure cloud. Based on Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012, Microsoft Dynamics 365 contains a set of features that ensures the organizations automate and manage their warehouse processes. Many augmentation solutions are already certified for Microsoft Dynamics 365; others are in progress.
