An automotive flywheel is a mechanical energy storage device that stores the energy produced during the power stroke, reducing the continual fluctuation of kinetic energy in an engine. The amount of energy that can be stored is determined by the flywheel's design and kind. The majority of automotive flywheels used in race cars and high-performance vehicles can store more power than those used in regular vehicles.
