British Open: Colonial's Charles Schwab Challenge Has Again Raised Millions for charity

It doesn't take much to persuade PGA Tour veteran Graeme McDowell to come to Texas, as long as Torchy's Tacos is close. He also didn't mind going to Colonial Country Club and Hogan Alley. Coupled with the PGA Tour events being held in Houston this week, McDowell can easily head to Fort Worth on Monday to compete in the Colonial Charity Challenge professional amateur competition. This is the celebration of the 2021 Charles Schwab Challenge, which has provided local organizations with more than $13.7 million in charitable influence. “One of the extraordinary things about golf is the ability to create such an experience,” said McDowell, who is best known for winning the British Open and US Open at Pebble Beach in 2010.

“Second, it's a way of giving back. To people who have been so good to me over the years, I need some invites and they really take care of me when I promised to participate in the Houston Open I told everyone I can spend the day here. The people in the colony are very nice.”

McDowell was one of 13 professionals to take part in the event, in fact, this event features three champions from the four majors of golf—McDowell (2010 U.S. Open), Todd Hamilton (2004 British Open), and Charles Coody (1971 Master Match).

Other players on the PGA Tour include locals Ryan Palmer, Tom Hoge, and Chad Campbell. As far as colonial officials are concerned, given the financial impact of the pandemic on many businesses, this has been a successful year from a philanthropic perspective.

Jim Whitten, chairman of the Charles Schwab Financial Challenge Committee, said: "We are very pleased to be raising these types of charitable funds after we get over the pandemic where some people are out of work and some people are struggling." That's what to do. Give back.

This is the most important part of the work that local friends and companies do for the annual 'Charity event before the tournament. Promise of this year, British Open, PGA Tour professionals caught 1,230 birdies in the tournament and Jason Kokrak won the championship.
