Beauty Training

If you are interested in getting into beauty training, consider working part time at a beauty spa. The experience that you can gain by making appointments and dealing with the customers can help you land a job when you graduate from a beauty school.

beauty training courses edinburgh

One of the most important courses you will ever take in beauty training will be about skin care. Whatever body treatment that someone comes into the spa or beauty salon for, will involve the skin, whether it us a massage, manicure, pedicure, facial or waxing, you will have to learn how to handle the client's skin in all aspects of the treatment.

Wrinkles are caused by damage as a result of exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun, so it is important to learn that you must never go outdoors without wearing sun block. You will need to educate your clients about the importance of sunscreen and a healthy skin regimen.

Your beauty training will include courses on how to evaluate client's skin. This is necessary because you will have to recommend skin care products and if the client has dry skin then you will need to recognize that so you can offer a product that has plenty of moisturizers and hydra therapy. In the winter months more clients will have dry skin. The legs and torso have a lot less oil than faces, so these areas need to be well maintained in the winter. Using an oil based moisturizer when you leave the shower is the best way to re-hydrate dry skin. It must be applied to skin that is still damp to work effectively.

After finishing your courses at a beauty school you will become a licensed skin care therapist. You will know how to apply makeup expertly, perform facials and chemical peels, analyze skin, learn acupressure to aid in facial massages and understand the concepts of reflexology and aromatherapy and how it helps the body to relax.

Each state has its own laws as to the precise number of training hours that are required to become a licensed skin care therapist. Check with your state licensing board because the number of hours can fluctuate between 260-600 hours. Whatever school you enroll in should be able to help you, but you'll want to ensure that you'll be able to pass the state exam to get your therapist license in order to get a job at a salon.
