European aircraft maker Airbus reported a 4 percent increase in consolidated revenues to €52.1 billion ($59.4 billion) on higher commercial aircraft deliveries that was marginally offset by unfavourable forex rates. A total of 611 commercial aircraft were delivered (2020: 566 aircraft) including 50 A220s, 483 A320 family, 18 A330s, 55 A350s and 5 A380s, according to an official statement. "2021 was a year of transition, where our attention shifted from navigating the pandemic towards recovery and growth," says Guillaume Faury, Chief Executive Officer, Airbus. "The strong financials reflect the higher number of commercial aircraft deliveries, the good performance of our Helicopters and Defence and Space businesses as well as our efforts on cost containment and competitiveness. Record net income and our efforts to strengthen the net cash position underpin our proposal to reintroduce dividend payments going forward."

November 19, 2019: Air Senegal has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for eight A220-300 aircraft at the Dubai Air Show.
The aircraft expected to fly to cities like Lagos, London, and Geneva will begin to join the carrier’s fleet by 2021, to be delivered two per year by Airbus.
The aircraft type attracted the national carrier because of its flexibility and reliability (apart from engine issues that have been plaguing those CS100/300 aircraft in Europe), allowing the carrier to fly to London, Geneva, as well as to nearby Largos.
Ibrahima Kane Air Senegal CEO said, “These new 220 aircraft will contribute to developing our long-haul network to Europe and our regional network in Africa.
Combined with our recent A330neo aircraft, this new Airbus fleet reveals Air Senegal’s ambition to offer the best travel experience for our passengers.”
“The number of A220s operation on the African continent is steadily growing and we are proud to add Senegal’s new flag carrier in our list of A220 African customers.
Swiss WorldCargo will fly to Osaka five times weekly, while servicing Washington DC daily during its Summer Timetable, and five times weekly during its Winter Timetable.
The new destinations will offer a weekly payload of 100 to 150 tonnes in each direction.
The air freight division of Swiss International Air Lines also has additional plans to increase capacity with year-round Boeing 777-300ER on flights to Tokyo and Miami.
The Zurich-Tokyo route will be operated with Boeing 777-300ERs from February 2020 onwards, and the Zurich-Miami route will switch to all-Boeing 777-300ER service from Summer 2020.
The larger-capacity Boeing 777-300ERs will offer an increase in payload.
“We are very excited to announce our new destinations for 2020, which allow us to expand our reach within strategic global markets.
