Tell us something about the role of employees in your organization?

Our enormous workforce doubles as our brand ambassadors

The Aster DM Healthcare workforce comprises 19,367 employees from different and diverse backgrounds, all working towards a predefined goal. It is a matter of immense pride for us that our enormous workforce doubles as our brand ambassadors driving the business forward as a team. It is our belief that the employees, with their behavior, attitude towards work, interest at the workplace and thought process come together to create the high-performance culture that we boast of. It is a fact that a motivated and satisfied employee who finds his office the best workplace contributes to creating a healthy culture.

Living up to our brand promise of “We’ll Treat You Well”

Our leadership and the entire management across the company are constantly working towards living up to our brand promise of “We’ll Treat You Well” to all of our employees. We work on a strong value system and pre-defined set of policies to ensure that our employees are motivated and taken care of. These set of principles and policies are mandatory for all the employees to follow; giving them a sense of belonging, direction and safety.

Learning for growth and progression

All of our employees are categorized into six bands depending upon their roles which gives each one of them clarity about their current standing in the system as well as their career progression. Furthermore, we ensure that each employee is constantly challenged in terms of their skills as well as nurtured to grow their skill set, contributing to the overall performance of the organization. This enables our employees to give their best and sets the tone and speed of the organization and also their career.

We help develop a constant urge to do better every day and encourage employees to actively participate in various learning interventions to develop their competencies so that they can perform their current role well as well as prepare themselves for more challenging roles in the future.

We strongly believe that communication and relationship play an important role in the day-to-day operations.

At Aster DMH we focus on the interaction among the employees across levels and even across geographies. Healthy employee relations promote a positive culture whereas conflicts and disagreements cause negativity all across the office. For us, communication is the key shapes the comfort level among the employees and helping them work collaboratively. This also inspires a sense of ownership and partnerships that drive results, it results in becoming one of the best places to work.

Value-Driven Leadership

We motivate each Asterian needs to practice Value Driven Leadership with a complete sense of belonging at their own levels and strive hard to deliver their best and achieve the assigned targets within the stipulated time frame. Our employees are the ones who contribute effectively towards the successful functioning of our organization.

What would an engaged employee mean to you?

An engaged employee for us is one who is fully involved in and enthusiastic about his or her role and will act in ways that advance their personal as well as organizational interests. The business environment today demands employee engagement and contributes to the competitiveness of any organization.

At Aster DMH, we look at employee engagement from three aspects i.e. cognitive, emotional, and behavioral perspectives.

The cognitive aspect revolves around the employees’ perception and beliefs regarding the organization and its culture in general, its leaders, and working conditions. The emotional aspect relates to whether the employee has a positive or negative attitude toward the organization and its leaders. The emotional perspective is influenced by the cognitive element. The behavioral aspect of engagement fosters the employee’s willingness to apply his or her discretionary effort to the work, resulting in a value-added benefit to the organization. So, at Aster DM Healthcare we try to engage our workforce keeping in mind all three perspectives. It starts with putting the “right” people in the “right” position and providing them with the resources so that they can do the “right” thing at the “right” time. All our Businesses and HR harmoniously work towards creating integrated systems and practices and ensure that the working environment is supportive so as to maximize employee engagement.

What are some of the key benefits of your efforts in the engagement at Aster DM Healthcare?

In any organization, the employees are likely to fall into three general groups: actively disengaged, not engaged, or engaged. Actively disengaged employees aren’t just unhappy; they are busy acting out their unhappiness as well as frustrations. Not addressing this can affect the work environment drastically. The employees who are not engaged are basically “putting in their time.” They are doing the bare minimum to get by; they bring little or no energy to their work and are not vested in or passionate about the organization. Engaged employees, on the other hand, are passionate about their work and feel a strong connection to the organization and its leadership. Such employees are effective in their work practices, enhance working relationships, drive innovation, and help move the organization forward.

For us, some of the benefits of employees and teams who are actively engaged with the organization include:

  • enhanced commitment, loyalty, and performance
  • higher levels of discretionary effort
  • the development of employees’ skills and abilities
  • fresh and innovative ideas and suggestions
  • greater synergy and productivity from the team as a whole
  • a positive and productive working environment.

Overall, we at Aster DMH believe that engaged employees create a better place to work and drive the high-performance culture passionately.
