The Maybach S sedan follows hot on the heels of the all-new, seventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and a V12 S680 model is expected to follow in 2022.
These cars aren't built to be driven by the person actually buying them - that's the job of a professional driver. And, in most cases, this sophisticated limousine will stick to the speed limits. On the rare occasion that some speed is required, however, the Maybach S sedan can deliver. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo 8-cylinder gas engine produces 496 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough in our opinion, but it gets a further boost by the electric EQ system, which adds 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. These performance-level outputs are forwarded to an all-wheel drivetrain courtesy of the silky smooth 9-speed automatic transmission.
