2021 Mercedes-Maybach S Review: The Climax Of Luxury

The 2021 Mercedes-Maybach S is an extension of luxury that surpasses the already flamboyant levels of grandeur on offer in the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class. This full-size luxury car has been designed to challenge competitors such as the Rolls-Royce Ghost and Bentley Flying Spur to a gentlemanly duel. For 2021, the Maybach S comes packed with all the latest gizmos and gadgets and a twin-turbo V8 punch wrapped in a silk glove. Producing 496 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, with another 21 hp and 184 lb-ft coming from the EQ electric boost system, this land yacht is no slouch, and its ostentatious exterior screams money.

2021 Mercedes-Maybach S Changes: What's the difference vs. 2020 Mercedes-Maybach S?

The Maybach S sedan follows hot on the heels of the all-new, seventh-generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class, and a V12 S680 model is expected to follow in 2022.

These cars aren't built to be driven by the person actually buying them - that's the job of a professional driver. And, in most cases, this sophisticated limousine will stick to the speed limits. On the rare occasion that some speed is required, however, the Maybach S sedan can deliver. Its 4.0-liter twin-turbo 8-cylinder gas engine produces 496 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque, which is more than enough in our opinion, but it gets a further boost by the electric EQ system, which adds 21 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. These performance-level outputs are forwarded to an all-wheel drivetrain courtesy of the silky smooth 9-speed automatic transmission.
