What Is the Christian Philosophy of Education?

Whether in elementary school or college, teaching students to embrace Christian values helps them to grow. Christian schools are not too different from public schools. The only disparity comes in the approach given to issues. Such issues include curriculum building and social and emotional students’ needs.

In the United States, there are over 140 Christian colleges. Some of these are online Christian colleges offering education to thousands of students around the world. These institutions abide by biblical rules and uphold Christian values.

The Christian Philosophy at Work in Classrooms

Children who attend Christian schools and colleges have the same personalities, talents, and abilities as those in public schools. Christian schools promote Christ-centered learning. That means that every element of the school day focuses on making the student more rooted in Christianity.

Online Christian colleges, for instance are set apart by these aspects:

Coursework

The content in the coursework might be similar in many ways, but the delivery and packaging are different. Christian colleges believe in filtering the coursework through God’s word to prevent going against biblical teachings. All topics from art to geography stay relevant to Christian teachings to prevent confusing students.

Character Building

Public schools focus on correcting behavior based on rules and disciplinary action. On the other hand, the Bible dictates how one must behave in Christian colleges. Most institutions build character using scriptures. Christian schools remind students to stay Christ-centered and to fear God. Besides, they also uphold integrity and encourage loving and caring attitudes.

Encouraging students to be better by giving biblical examples is more practical. Instead of fearing punishment, they embrace the fear of God, making better choices.

Vision and Goals

Every school and college has goals that drive its agenda. Online Christian colleges focus more on instilling values such as respect, integrity, and stewardship away from coursework. Christian colleges encourage their students to take part in community service to create well-rounded individuals.

In addition to that, professors and faculty members diligently pursue knowledge and truth. This approach helps the students achieve their goals in a spiritual way.

The Benefit of a Christian-Based Education

Public schools are wonderful places to learn. However, Christian schools and colleges are much better if you want a more personal and wholesome learning experience.

It’s easier to instill Christian values in a child going to a Christian school than in a public school. The same information they get from their parents is available in school. Colleges are not any different.

Tertiary Christian institutions instill the values college students get from their parents. The Christian philosophy of education brings together every aspect of a student’s experience. It is not enough to be book smart. Values such as responsibility, truthfulness, respect, and honesty are also vital.

In Christian schools and colleges, learning using the Bible equips students to stay true to their spiritual values. Besides, the level of education received at Christian schools is higher. Focus is more on quality than quantity.
