IELTS Band Score Required for Canada PR Visa

Indians prefer immigrating to Canada due to the high quality of living, world-class education, ability to work after graduation and a safe and inclusive atmosphere. Many Indian professionals are also willing to travel to Canada for work because the procedures for obtaining permanent status is fairly comprehensible and transparent.

Many Canadian provinces have extended the eligibility to become permanent residents through several criteria. However, a strong IELTS score is prerequisite. This article will tell you everything you need to know about the IELTS score required for Canadian PR Visa in 2022. The International English Language Test System (IELTS) is an internationally recognised English language competence test that is used to determine whether or not an applicant is qualified to immigrate to a country that has English as their official language. This test, which assesses the candidate's English language competency, is administered IDP. IELTS uses a nine-band scale to assess competency, ranging from non-user (Band Score 1) to expert (Band Score 9).

What are the modules of IELTS?

Listening: This section has 40 questions with a time limit of 30 minutes and an extra 10 minutes for transferring. The purpose of the listening test is to determine your ability as an English respondent. A point score is determined by how clearly you listen to the words, how good your listening vocabulary is, and how quickly you respond.

Reading: This section also has 40 questions, and examinees are allowed one hour to complete it. 'Reading is a relatively a complex task as it requires complete concentration and attentiveness in order to completely comprehend the texts and respond appropriately.

Writing: This fragment has 2-3 sections, and examinees have an hour to complete it. The writing section requires the most practise. The only piece of advice for this part is to be unique and avoid using too many shiny words. When expressing your ideas, keep it simple and straightforward. Don't beat a dead horse.

Speaking: Exams are given 11 to 14 minutes to complete this section, which is divided into three portions. Another significant section is the Speaking module. Speaking in front of the examiner throughout the examination should come naturally. Do not try to imitate an accent or exaggerate anything. Answer to the questions posed.

What is the IELTS score required for various Canada PR categories?

There are several immigration pathways that can get you a Canada PR and you should prepare for your IELTS as per your program application.

Express Entry: All potential applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English or French to be considered for Express Entry (or for extra points, both). You must not only pass the IELTS exam but also get the highest possible score to be considered for the Express Entry pool. To be considered for Express Entry, you must take the IELTS - General Training exam (not the academic version).

Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSWC): This immigration pathway is for skilled professionals who have been assessed using the FSWC points system. To be considered eligible, a person must score at least 67 out of 100. Language abilities can get you up to 28 points, plus an additional 5 points if you apply with an English or French-speaking spouse or common-law partner.

Federal Skilled Trades Class: Candidates with suitable experience are eligible for this immigration route. CLB 5 (English) or NCLC 5 (French) is the minimum IELTS score required for speaking and listening, whereas CLB 4 (English) or NCLC 4 (French) is required for reading and writing to qualify under this immigration category.

Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This program is designed for people who have ongoing or recent employment experience in Canada. Persons applying for NOC 0 or NOC A positions must have a minimum score of 7 on the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) in reading, writing, speaking, and listening, or a score of 6 on the International English Language Testing System.

Provincial Nominee Program (PNP): Candidates can also apply under the Provincial Nominee Programs. Several of them run independently of Express Entry. You can still apply for a PR visa in Canada via the Provincial Nominee program even if your IELTS score is low.
