How To Use Waxing Strips

Dating back to the Ancient Egyptians, waxing is a common process used to remove bodily hairs through a swift and efficient method. The process of waxing, specifically using strips, is relatively simple. Just apply the wax to the desired area, apply the strip,  give it a few presses to ensure it has its grasp on the hairs, and pull. Although it sounds simple, this process not only entails a few more important steps, but also a significant magnitude of pain. The details on how to mask this pain will be explained later, but a simple way is via the use of Tattoo Numbing Cream. So what are the steps involved with waxing?

What Are the Steps Involved in Waxing?

  1. Check hair length - Prior to waxing, ensure the hairs are around 0.25-0.75 inches long.
  2. Avoid retinol creams - Two to five days before waxing, refrain from using products containing retinol on specifically, but not exclusively the face in order to prevent the removal of skin, along with hair.
  3. Get comfortable - The process of waxing can be stressful for some as it involves a great deal of pain and in turn, in order to prevent this pain getting too much in the way, ensure you are in a comfortable position as a way of maximising your pain resistance.
  4. Wash the desired area - Ensure the area that is being waxed is utterly clean, using soap and water as well as an exfoliant in order to ensure all dirt and dead skin has been removed. As a simple exfoliant you can make at home, mix sugar and oil together such as coconut oil.
  5. Warm the wax - Follow the directions on the package, and always test the temperature of the wax by applying a small amount to the inside of your wrist to ensure its temperature is appropriate. The wax should be warm, but should not be hot enough to cause any harm (via burning).
  6. Apply the wax - Apply the wax to your desired area. Ensure to be somewhat generous with your application, but not to the point where it is overwhelming to avoid drowning the area in hot wax. For the best results when waxing, apply wax in the direction of hair growth.
  7. Apply waxing strip - Once the wax is applied, place the strip over the wax and press down firmly. Leave the strip on for two to three seconds.
  8. Remove the waxing strip - During removal, hold skin taut with one hand and with the other hand quickly rip off the strip in the opposite direction of hair growth.

How Can You Minimise Pain During Waxing?

There are many ways to minimise the pain involved with waxing. Each way hasts merits, but some are more effective than others. Here are just a few:

  • Desensitisation of waxing area - Using ice to numb the area you are waxing is a somewhat effective but also relatively dangerous way of preventing pain. Yes, it can prevent immediate pain of the wax, however can also cause skin damage and other negative effects.
  • Meditation and breathing tactics - Despite the persona surrounding these methods, that implies they are not very effective, deep breathing and meditation can have very beneficial effects, reducing stress and helping with pain management. In turn, channelling your inner zen and clearing your mind can help you fight against that excruciating septum piercing. Using these somewhat rudimentary techniques has a surprisingly great positive effect. Deep breathing and meditation are great ways of decreasing heart rate as well as stress, and also increasing your ability to withstand pain. Therefore, by taking a slower and more calming approach to your waxing, the magnitude of pain it involves can be diminished.
  • Pain relief drugs - Using generic pain prevention drugs such as rudimentary painkillers can be a very simple but effective way to prevent the pain intertwined with your waxing.
  • Use a numbing cream -  Here, Tattoo Numbing Cream can aid your experience. It allows you to endure a calm and stress-free waxing, without all the agonising pain that would usually be involved.

How Do You Use Tattoo Numbing Cream To Prevent Pain When Using Waxing Strips?

There are six steps to applying Tattoo Numbing Cream that you can buy here.

  1. Wash the area you plan on waxing with soap and water. You can also use an exfoliant to ensure the removal of any dirt or dead skin. This will not only help prevent ingrown hairs, but it will also aid the numbing cream in completely sinking in, decreasing the time it takes to move on to the next step. Once clean, dry the area.
  2. Generously apply the cream, ensuring to completely cover the area you are waxing and rub it in thoroughly.
  3. Then cover the area with a layer of cling film. This will help the cream to activate and prevent it from drying out.
  4. Leave for 90 minutes.
  5. Once this time has elapsed, wipe away any excess cream after removing the cling film.

You’re now ready to wax, pain free, thanks to Tattoo Numbing Cream.
