Japanese Restaurant In Manhattan

Japanese restaurants are fascinating in that they have a sliding scale of prices, which means you can find a cheap restaurant but be prepared for bad service, or an expensive restaurant with great-tasting food and a pleasurable dining experience. And so it proved with our quest to find the best Japanese restaurant in NYC. We focused on restaurants that offer a sit-down, full-service experience with hibachi chefs, as this is the best way to get the real traditional aspects of Japanese cooking. We also looked for restaurants with a loyal following, indicating that they were doing something right. We settled on Yagi, for the quality of its food and the high level of service.

In summary, the new location reflects tremendous growth for the brand. Its business has been expanding rapidly, with revenue increasing by 85 percent from 2016 to 2018. This has enabled the company to open new locations all over the country, including more restaurants in New York.

As someone who's lived in New York's East Village for over ten years, I was happy to see Japanese restaurants in the neighborhood. But like a lot of New York, the neighborhood's current crop of Japanese restaurants has a poor rep. They're run by people with rudimentary backgrounds in Japanese food, and they don't offer much in the way of traditional izakaya (casual Japanese pubs).

We set out to prove that there's a wealth of excellent traditional Japanese food to be found in New York. We asked five Japanese chefs, each with a decade of experience, to name their favorite izakayas. We chose three spots in the East Village, one in Queens, and one in NoMad. Then we invited 15 couples to come to try them. Over the course of an evening, we were treated to shabu-shabu, tempura, yakitori, yakisoba, udon, and okonomiyaki.
