What’s New in Tech?

It seems like there's always something new and exciting happening in the world of technology. From the latest iPhone release to new social media platforms, it can be hard to keep up with all the latest trends. In this blog post, we provide a rundown of some of the most popular tech trends right now.

Virtual Reality

One of the hottest topics in tech right now is virtual reality. With VR headset sales reaching $22 billion in 2022, it's clear that this technology is here to stay.

Virtual reality allows users to step into a completely simulated environment. While VR has been around for decades, it's only recently that the technology has become advanced enough to be truly realistic. Thanks to companies like Oculus, Samsung, and HTC, VR is now more accessible than ever before.

Augmented Reality

While virtual reality transport users to an entirely simulated environment, augmented reality simply adds digital elements to the real world around a person.

One of the most popular examples of augmented reality is Pokemon Go. This smartphone app a phone's GPS and camera to superimpose Pokemon onto the world around them.

Other popular examples of augmented reality include Snapchat filters and Instagram AR filters. These filters use a person’s phone camera to track their facial movements and then add fun effects accordingly.

Fixed Wireless

According to a recent report from Juniper Research, fixed wireless is now a key part of the global broadband landscape. The report estimates that there are nearly 1 billion fixed wireless subscribers, representing approximately 15% of all broadband connections.

Fixed wireless technology is continuously improving, with speeds and reliability increasing every year. As a result, it's likely that we will see even more people connecting to the internet via fixed wireless providers, like Optus, IInet, and Swoop, in the years to come.

5G

5G is the latest generation of cellular network technology. 5G offers several advantages over its predecessor, 4G LTE, including higher speeds, lower latency, and more reliability. 5G is also less susceptible to interference from things like trees or buildings.

Currently, 5G networks are only available in select cities, but that's changing quickly. CTIA, the wireless industry association trade group, estimates that there will be 250 million 5G connections by 2025.

NBN Tech

Today, the National Broadband Network is available to around 11 million homes and businesses across Australia, and that number is only going to grow in the years to come. By the end of 2022, the network is expected to be available to almost every home and business in the country.

This rollout will be made possible by a new generation of NBN technology, which is capable of delivering speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second. This new technology will greatly improve the online experience for Australians, making it easier than ever to stay connected.

Summary

It’s true that there are many exciting things happening in the world of technology right now. Whether a person is interested in virtual reality, augmented reality, or 5G networks, there's something new for everyone to try out.
