How to Get Your Business Planning Back on Track in 2022

We all wish there were a magic formula for recovery: health, economy, and businesses. Sadly, there is none. But there is magic in thinking hard, fast and smart—owners who like that lead businesses that thrive and prosper in the most challenging times.

Difficult times (post-pandemic or overcoming the common hurdles encountered by all small businesses) require businesses to adapt quickly to new challenges and opportunities.

During the reduced business activity, business owners can use their spare time 'working on' their business rather than 'working in' it.

There are many things you can do and examples you can follow to breathe life into your business.

Growth mindset

In 2006, Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck published "Mindset: The New Psychology of Success", which proposed the power of mindset. In other words, success in school, work, sport and every area of human endeavour can be dramatically influenced by how we think. People with a fixed mindset – those that believe that abilities are fixed – are less likely to succeed than those with a growth mindset – those that believe that abilities can be developed. But growth mindset is not limited to adding new skills to yourself and your business. It is about possessing an attitude to yourself and your business to improve and evolve constantly.

Get help from other people.

An important factor in getting through a crisis or finding a way to new growth is getting help from other people. Get a mentor, join a network, engage your team or access professional support- there are so many ways to stick together, support each other and ask for help.

A change is as good as a rest.

Explore new ways to use your current skill set to develop new products to sell or add new skills and resources to the business and use that to move further away from your starting point. This may bring some exciting and unexpected routes to growth and recovery.

Technology

Embrace technology like never before. It will open new opportunities but also give you the confidence that your business is ready to face anything that comes its way.

People

An excellent place to start on the road to recovery is with the team. For bookkeeping small business owners, the staff is like their family. Tap into their ideas for new products, services or sales mechanisms; tap into their customer knowledge for who to target with what sales message; and tap into their ideas for technology, digital skills and innovation as the more inspiration you have in this area, the better.

Don't stop

Your income has dropped, and budgets are tighter but don't stop. You will find a way one way or another. Of course, this is easier said than done. All the points mentioned above will be good to start if you are facing difficulties.
