IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University )

The IGNOU is one of the oldest open universities in Delhi which came into existence in the year 1985. It is located in Maidan Garhi, New Delhi, India. It has more than 3.5 lakh students enrolled in different learning courses across the country. The university offers around 226 academic courses at certificate, diploma, and degree levels. There are 21 schools, with 56 regional centers and 1843 study centers, and 21 overseas centers. Around 20% of students of distance learning are enrolled in IGNOU in India.

Awards and Recognition: The IGNOU has been approved by UGC, AUI, and AICTE and accredited with the highest grade “A” certificate by NAAC. IGNOU was awarded by the Commonwealth of Learning(COL) as the first Centre of Excellence for Distance Education.

Admission: The IGNOU opens admission twice a year( July and December). The merit list is made as per the marks obtained in the qualifying exam for admission to the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. For admission to Ph.D. and B.Ed, the IGNOU conducts entrance exams for the deserving candidates.

The School of Open Learning, Delhi University

The Delhi University set up a school of Open Learning in the year 1962. It is a pioneering institute of distance education in India. The school is governed by the University of Delhi and the exams are also conducted by the Delhi University. The campus of the center is located in south Delhi whereas it has extended its office to eastern and western Delhi to help out students.

It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in arts/humanities and commerce. The course material is sent to the enrolled students and the experienced faculty is always present on the campus for assistance. Moreover, you can easily access the library and classes conducted at the nearest center.

Awards and recognition: The university is awarded a Grade “A+” by NAAC and ranked among the top 10 colleges in India Today colleges ranking 2021. The university is AICTE And UGC-DEB recognized.

Admission: The SOL DU gives admission on a merit and entrance basis. The students who graduated from DU can get direct admission through the merit list whereas the other student needs to appear for the entrance exam. Jamia Milia Islamia University, Delhi

The Jamia Milia Islamia University is a central university located in Okhla, New Delhi, India. Though the university was set up in 1920 it got its deemed university status from UGC in 1962. It provides distance learning courses under 10 faculties or departments for the certificate, diploma, and degree levels.

Awards and recognition: The university is accredited with a grade “A” certificate by NAAC. In 2020 Jamai milia Islamai ranked 1st among all central universities. As per, the list was released by the Ministry of Education of India. Apart from this, the faculty of the university has received a no. of awards in terms of excellence in studies. The university has a good library which is famous worldwide.

Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University distance education

The university was set up in 1998 with a vision to promote the education system for the higher class. It offers open and distance courses in engineering, technology, medicine, law, management, nursing, etc. The university is a state-regulated university and its rules and regulations are solely governed by itself. The campus is located in Dwarka, Delhi.

Awards and recognition: The university is UGC-DEB, AUI, and AICTE approved. It is also accredited with a grade of “A” by NAAC. The university is also ISO:9000: 2015 certified. It is among the 100 universities as per the NIRF ranking 2021.

National Institute of Business Studies (NIBS), Delhi

The NIBS is a leading distance education center with international standards. It has its headquarters located in Paschim Vihar, Delhi. The NIBS works on the international standard of distance education. Teachers and staff of the university are highly committed to giving quality and innovative education to the youths of our country.
