How to make sure your kitchen island isn’t tiring you

If you’ve been literally turning around from left to right, and 360-degrees in the kitchen, something’s wrong. You’ve either placed the kitchen items in a disorderly fashion or the kitchen island is too far.

This is a shout out to all those living with classic kitchens and elegant modern kitchens as well. If you feel exhausted upon leaving the kitchen after a meal preparation, it’s probably because the kitchen island is too close or too far away. It’s where much of the meal preparation takes place, and that’s why it’s important that the kitchen island doesn’t block the space you require for generous movement.

Where to place the kitchen island

Positioning your kitchen island appropriately will help define your energy levels. This is because an incorrect kitchen layout will cause you to move about more often than expected. You don’t want to place the appliances in the opposite direction from where the cutting board is, and likewise the cooking ranges from the cooking stove.

So, make sure to allow space for the appliance door swing and also room to pass by when the door is open. Your kitchen island should be within arm’s length from the appliance door swing.

Not sure how to picture your kitchen layout? Have a look at these elegant modern kitchens and their designs, from contrasting materials of Karma to the subtle combinations of Color Trends. If you prefer classic kitchens then those designs are available too. From the cosmopolitan look of Newport to the iconic styling Dolcevita, and more, you can take your pick.

So, don’t let your kitchen define your energy levels. It’s time to feel re-energized after cooking a good meal.
