Overview
Portsmouth University is a public university in Portsmouth, Hampshire. The University of Portsmouth lies 120 kilometres southwest of London on England's south coast. There are around 24,000 students registered, with 5,200 overseas students.
Portsmouth is a modern, multi-disciplinary university with five faculties offering practical undergraduate, postgraduate taught, and research courses. The University is now ranked 21st in the UK, and most bachelor's degrees involve a one-year paid work internship (Guardian University Guide 2020). Student satisfaction and graduate employability are also high at the university. It is one of just four institutions in South East England to have the Government Teaching Quality Mark.

History
In 1870, the university was founded as the Portsmouth and Gasport School of Science and Art. In 1911, two student unions were established, one for male students and one for female students. In the years 1945 to 1960, the institution diversified its curriculum by adding arts and humanities topics. In 1953, the college was renamed Portsmouth College of Technology.
In 1980, the institution changed its name to Portsmouth Polytechnic and became one of the major polytechnic institutes in the country. The Further and Higher Education Act of 1992 gave it full university status in 1992.

Fees & Scholarship of University of Portsmouth
Foreign students must pay between £16,200 and £18,300 per year. Many scholarships are available to international students at Portsmouth. These scholarships' eligibility vary depending on your course, academic grade, and other factors. The following scholarships are available:
- Vice-Global Chancellor's Development Scholarship: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students. The students will receive a scholarship of £1600, which will be applied to their regular tuition expenses. Furthermore, the award is exclusively open to first-year students. This award is also exclusively available to international students.
- The Chancellor's Global Academic Merit Scholarship will be available starting in 2022. This scholarship will provide the scholars with £5000, which will be applied to their regular tuition expenses. Applicants must submit an application for this scholarship. In addition, full-time undergraduate and postgraduate international students are eligible for this award.
- School of Environment, Geography, and Geoscience Scholarship: This scholarship is available to self-funded students who receive offer letters from the School of Environment, Geography, and Geoscience. The students will receive a 50% discount on their usual tuition fees. Furthermore, each student must apply for this award separately.
- Chevening Scholarship: This scholarship is a reward from the UK government for international students. It is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organizations. The scholarship is only available for one-year masters’ students only.
- To become eligible for this scholarship students need to have two years of work or volunteer experience along with an undergraduate degree.
- The Commonwealth Scholarship is supported by the Commonwealth. This scholarship aims to attract exceptional talent to British colleges while also promoting sustainable development. Scholarships recognise achievement and encourage equity, inclusion, and educational access, particularly for kids from low-income families.

A collaboration involving scientists from the UK and Ukraine has produced radioactive-free vodka from crops grown in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, according to a University of Portsmouth press release.
