What is CDS ?

CDS (Combined Defence Services) is an entrance examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in India for selection into the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Indian Air Force Academy (IAFA). The examination is conducted twice a year and is a stepping stone for individuals who aspire to join the Indian Defence Services as officers. The CDS exam consists of written tests in English, General Knowledge, and Elementary Mathematics, followed by interviews and/or personality tests for selected candidates.

Candidates who clear the CDS exam are selected for training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Officers Training Academy (OTA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), and Indian Air Force Academy (IAFA).
