Houston Astros Luxury Suites: A World-Class Setting in Houston

The Houston Astros are one of today’s most dominant and successful MLB clubs. Originally established as the Houston Colt .45s, they became a member of the National League as an expansion team in 1962. Since then, the team has changed names and leagues, currently playing out of the AL West Division.

The move to the American League came in 2013, after spending their first 51 seasons in the National League. From 1969 to 1993, the Astros played in the NL West Division and then in the NL Central Division from 1994 to 2012. Houston has been in the AL West the last 10 years.

The only World Series championship to their credit came after the 2017 season. They would make additional appearances in the Fall Classic in 2019, 2021, and 2022 - winning their second title in the latter series. They are the only MLB franchise to win a postseason series in six straight seasons. Their dominance remains intact as they head into the 2023 MLB season.

The team’s current name, the Astros, reflects Houston's role as the home of the Johnson Space Center. It was adopted when they moved into the Astrodome, which was the first domed sports stadium. The team moved to its current stadium - Minute Maid Park - in 2000.

Minute Maid Park

Built as a replacement for the Astrodome, Minute Maid Park opened at the start of the new millennium. It is a retractable roof stadium, which is popular for its natural grass playing field. While the interior was constructed of an extensive amount of marble, the exterior walls of the stadium were constructed of granite, limestone, and terracotta.

Baseball games are usually played with the roof open in April and May. Additionally, the roof is often opened during October playoff games. Union Station Lobby is the main entrance to the stadium and the Crawford Boxes, a section of seating in left field at Minute Maid Park, runs parallel to Crawford Street in downtown Houston.

Minute Maid Park is no stranger to luxury. This incredible ball park has a seating capacity of 41,000, including 5,190 club seats and 63 Houston Astros luxury suites.
