Salesforce's Plans for Mobile App Development

Although mobile has transformed business, businesses still need help to provide clients with the simple, intuitive experiences they desire. We aim to alter that and provide businesses the tools they need to forego costly Force.com Development Service Solutions costs and still produce great apps.

As if monitoring my children's calendars, steps taken, and credit card balance wasn't stressful enough, Apple's new feature that tracks daily screen usage has given me another reason to be stressed out. Thanks, Apple! I use my phone for absurdly many hours daily, from buying on Etsy or Amazon to using my Salesforce or Google apps. At least I can find comfort in the idea that I'm not alone. In the US, daily cellphone usage has increased from 1.6 hours in 2012 to 3.3 hours today.

Lack of Competencies in Mobile App Development

Businesses are highly aware of consumption trends. According to statistics, mobile is one of the top three technologies predicted to transform organizations by 2020.

If mobile's increasing ubiquity is well known, why don't more businesses offer enjoyable mobile experiences? The solution is easy yet tricky. It takes a lot of development work to create user interfaces for iOS and Android and to improve them with backend services. This work can be expensive and time-consuming.

This is particularly true given that there is a significant skills vacuum for mobile Force.Com Developer in 48% of IT businesses, and another 33% anticipate one in the following two years. Consumers increasingly want every smartphone experience to be just as immersive, intuitive, and user-friendly as those of Spotify, Google Waze, or Instagram, whether or not that expectation is reasonable. That's a lofty goal.
