On Grid Solar System

On Grid Solar System are those in which excess power generated during day time gets exported to KSEB/EB and during night time this exported power can be used back by the customer. Here during day time solar power generated is first gets utilized in the home/building/industry. When there is excess power after meeting the real time load, solar power gets exported to KSEB.

This exported solar power will be measured by a bidirectional energy meter fitted by KSEB/EB dept at customer premises. During night when there is no solar power, customer can utilize/import

KSEB power, which also gets noted in the bidirectional energy meter. At end of month customer electricity bill is calculated measuring the solar export and kseb import.

If solar export is same as kseb import, then energy bill will be zero.If kseb import is slightly higher than solar export, then customer will have to pay energy charge for the additional consumed kseb units. If solar export is higher than kseb import, then customer will have to pay zero bill. In addition to this the excess export will be carry forward to next month bill cycle. For which customer will get payback during year end.

Solar Grid Tie project is suitable for customers

  • Who want to reduce electricity bill to zero
  • Normal backup inverter is enough for power failures
  • Don’t to reinvest in solar project
  • Area having stable power supply most of time

Solar Panels works on the principal photo voltaic effect. Here when sunlight falls on semi-conductor materials, electrons a gets excited and it moves from valance band to conduction band. There by leaving a whole pair in the valence band. This electron and hole movement within a semiconductor materials is called electricity.

A Solar panel consists of numbers of Solar Cells, which is made of semi-conductor materials – both N Type and P type. Electrons generated from each solar cells are collected using busbars - lines which we see in solar panels. These collected electron flow is called electricity, which is brought to junction boxes. From junction boxes we take output.

There are different types of semiconductor materials used for solar panel manufacturing. Like Silicon, cadmium telluride (CdTe) & copper indium gallium dieseline – CIGS. Also some other materials recently developed include Perovskite Photovoltaic, Organic Photovoltaic, and Quantum Dots etc.

The hybrid solar energy system is a combination of grid and off grid based solar systems. Simply put, it can be defined as a grid connected solar power system with additional battery backup.

It has the advantage of storing energy in the battery when the solar panel is operating at its peak and recovering the energy stored during peak evenings in the event of a high power or any grid failure. Additionally, the extra energy generated by one can be sold and paid for through a local grid-connection.

Components of the hybrid solar system:

A hybrid power system combines on-grid and off-grid components. The following components are used when installing a hybrid solar system in your home or commercial space:

Solar Panel:

The solar panel is the foundation of the solar energy system without which strong solar radiation cannot be extracted and used. Solar radiation in the form of photons falls on the solar panel and generates electricity in the form of DC energy.

Direct Current Distribution Box (DCDB):

The primary function of DCDB is to combine multiple strings of solar panels into one. This box contains protective components such as miniature circuit breaker (MCB), fuse and surge protection device.

Charge controller:

This component is integrated with the battery to control the amount of charge streaming into the battery. The main task of the controller is to control the flow of charges, prevent the battery from overcharging and extend the life of the battery.

Hybrid Inverter:

An inverter is an important component of a solar system that converts DC energy generated from a solar panel or battery into usable AC energy. The inverter offers monitoring of the energy consumed, received, consumed or stored in the battery; It helps to monitor the performance of the solar panel and the battery.

Alternating Current Distribution Box (ACDB):

The primary function of the ACDB is to protect the appliances from any fault that occurs in the hybrid inverter, it consists of protective appliances such as a miniature circuit breaker (MCB), fuse and surge protection device.

Batteries:

The primary function of the ACDB is to protect the appliances from any fault that occurs in the hybrid inverter, it consists of protective appliances suFor off-grid and hybrid solar systems, batteries play an important role in storing the surplus energy generated by the sun during the day, and then recovering when the solar panel is unable to generate the required power during cloudy weather or at night. For rechargeable power systems, rechargeable batteries, such as lithium or lead-acid batteries, are recommended.ch as a miniature circuit breaker (MCB), fuse and surge protection device.

Working of solar hybrid system:

When solar radiations in the form of photons are incident on the solar panel, direct current(DC) is generated using the photovoltaic principle. The DC energy generated depends on the solar radiation intensity.

  • This generated DC energy is fed into the charge controller which helps in regulating the amount of power to be supplied to the battery.
  • Depending on the power requirement by different appliances, the inverter draws energy from these batteries and converts it into a usable alternating current.
  • This generated AC energy is supplied to different loads through the wiring system.
  • When the battery is fully charged then the solar panel supplies the surplus generated DC power through the inverter and net meter to the utility grid-connected and gets paid for this surplus power.
  • The stored energy in the battery is retrieved during the non-sunny day or at night depending on the requirement.
  •
  • Advantages:
  • Reduced grid dependency – standalone applications.
  • Hybrid inverters come with backup power capacity thus providing uninterrupted power under any circumstances. It allows consumers to consume power from grid, battery or solar.
  • It can be used as an off-grid solar energy system in case of power failure.
  • Can retrieve stored energy during cloudy weather or peak evening time (when tariff rates are high) thus saving the electricity bills
  •
  • Disadvantages:
  • Higher installation cost

If you are a builder or homeowner, are you thinking about installing solar panels for your new construction home? Want to save money while having a positive impact on the environment? Well, you are in right place!

Homes with solar photovoltaic panels (PV) will attract some new home buyers due to their low electricity bill and low environmental impact. The decision of the owners to go ahead with such a large investment raises a question about the return on investment. Installing a solar system can bring huge profits on electricity bills and earn ROI of 4-5 years. Minor investments now often pay great dividends in the future. Benefits of installing a home solar systemLess Impact To The Environment

Using solar panel to power your home is definitely better for the environment than other energy sources. Installing a solar panel in a home is the first step to helping the environment and at the same time saving money. The use of solar panel contributes to a cleaner environment. Most people understand how important it is to reduce the amount of air pollution. By installing a home solar system, you will take advantage of an eco-friendly way to make your home more energy efficient.

Illumine Energy undertakes designing, engineering, product procurement, documentation, installation and maintenace of power plants. Unlike product sales, company is unique in focusing project sales, by Energy Auditing, Turn Key Solutions and Helping Customer to do Profitable Investments.

Established in the year 2012, Illumine is a top player in the category development, acquisition and long-term management of large-scale solar projects and smart energy solutions. With one of the largest footprints of clean energy projects, spanning India, the company has installed more than 300+ solar power projects and has the largest portfolio of solar rooftops. The company has over 2 MW of solar power plants under operation and a further 500 KW under construction.

We operate in both the centralized energy market and the evolving distributed energy market around the India and UAE. ILLUMINE is investing in new technologies and product offerings from the advantageous position of pure solar economics.

Micro inverters are a type of solar inverter that is individually connected to each panel and converts the DC that makes up that panel into AC. The outputs from all the micro-inverters are consumed by different electrical loads. Micro-inverters have a monitoring device that allows each inverter to record performance measurements and errors, wirelessly send the data to the manufacturer server to be displayed online or store data locally. When selecting this monitoring feature, check to see if the manufacturer charges for the service. If you are a builder or homeowner, are you thinking about installing solar panels for your new construction home? Want to save money while having a positive impact on the environment?
