Supported Independent Living Melbourne

Supported independent living Melbourne offers NDIS participants the opportunity to live in their own home with assistance. This can be through a shared living arrangement or full-time support, depending on your needs.

This accommodation is usually provided in group homes with a minimum of one support staff on site 24 hours a day. This ensures everyone’s safety while allowing each person to enjoy the benefits of being in their own space.

SIL is a NDIS support

SIL is a NDIS support that helps people with permanent and significant disabilities to live an independent life. It can include 24-hour support delivered in a shared living arrangement, or assistance to improve personal care skills and access social activities and training.

Using IEC 61508 standards, four SIL levels are defined: SIL 1 is the least dependable, while SIL 4 is the most dependable. SIL levels are determined by the hazard frequency and severity of each process hazard.

As a general rule, hazards that occur more frequently or have more severe consequences have higher SIL Levels. A SIL determination process takes into account the process risk, probability of different types of accidents, and how they are related to each other, along with their consequences in terms of cost.

SIL determiner methods may include Safety Layer Matrix (SLM); Risk Graphs (RG);

Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA); Fault Tree Analysis (FTA); and Event Tree Analysis (ETA). LOPA is the most common for large industrial facilities, but SLM and FTA are also suitable.

SIL is 24 hour support

Supported independent living (SIL) is a NDIS support that helps people with disability to live independently while receiving round-the-clock support. This includes onsite supports that provide assistance with daily tasks and help participants build their skills and capacity to live as independently as possible.

SIL can be delivered in different ways depending on the participant’s needs and is usually delivered in a shared home environment. The main aim of SIL is to support and assist participants in the delivery of everyday tasks such as cooking, cleaning, personal care, and managing their medications.

As a result, SIL requires careful design of human tasks and assessment of the probability of human error. In addition, a Safety Lifecycle Analysis is required to determine the overall PFD of the Safety Integrity Function (SIF).

SIL is a shared living arrangement

There are many types of supported independent living (SIL) available to those with high support needs. This specialized housing style is a great option for those with complex and/or chronic health conditions, and it also provides many benefits to their family and loved ones. One of the most exciting aspects of SIL is that it is often a shared living arrangement, where both participants are in close proximity to each other and receive round-the-clock care. This is a great way to foster closer bonds and build community.

The other big draw of SIL is that the supported independent living providers has its own dedicated staff with a clear separation of duties and responsibilities. This is a good thing for the families and loved ones of those with a high support need as well as for the provider itself, as it means that they can focus on delivering an excellent service and quality of life to all involved.
