Cranfield University's History
Cranfield University, one of the leading engineering postgraduate research and educational institutes in the UK, was founded in 1946 as the College of Aeronautics. The Cranfield Campus was founded on a Royal Air Force base in Bedfordshire, England.
The university underwent numerous developments over the next two decades, with Roxbee Cox (Lord Kings Norton) serving as vice-chair and chair. It helped with aircraft research and design. The university broadened its scope by establishing the Cranfield University School of Management, as well as a manufacturing faculty.
The Royal Charter and degree-awarding powers were granted to the College of Aeronautics in 1969. It was also renamed Cranfield Institute of Technology, elevating it to the level of a full-fledged university.
Silsoe College was formed by the merger of the Institute and the National College of Agricultural Engineering over the next nearly 20 years. In addition, the university collaborated with the Royal Military College of Science. Cranfield University was renamed after another amendment to the institute's Royal Charter was made in 1993. The UK university admitted its final batch of undergraduates in 2003 and became entirely post-graduate.
Cranfield has evolved into one of the UK's best post-graduate universities, with excellent taught and research programmes available through the Aerospace School, Transport and Manufacturing School, Water School, Energy and Environment School, Management School, and Cranfield Defence & Security School.
The Cranfield campus is near Cranfield, Bedfordshire, and is part of the Cambridge-Milton Keynes-Oxford corridor. In addition to academic and research facilities, the campus has its own airport, hotels, recreational facilities, housing, and on-campus nurseries and preschools for students' families.

Cranfield University, as a fully postgraduate institution, does not appear in traditional league tables.
However, in the 2021 Financial Times European Business School Rankings, its Cranfield School of Management was ranked among the top 10 business schools in the UK and 34th in Europe.
Furthermore, in the full-time MBA ranking for 2021, its full-time MBA programme is ranked 5th in the UK and 60th globally.

Living Quarters
Students who choose to live on campus in dorms have a variety of options, including self-catered and catered halls for various budgets. Students can also choose between en suite rooms and flats with shared bathrooms. Because more than half of the population is over 30 and already employed, family homes and apartments are also available on a short-term basis.

Transport
The campus is close to Cranfield Village, Milton Keynes, and Bedford. Students can travel between these locations using Uno buses and other bus connections. If you want to go to London, you can do so in 45 minutes using the mainline railway services.
All campus facilities are within walking distance and can be reached on foot. The airport of Luton is also nearby. Aside from that, students can use car-hailing services like Uber to get around campus.
Location
Cranfield University's campus is about 40 minutes by train from central London, with Milton Keynes and Bedford being the closest towns. The university is conveniently located near London Luton airport, and Heathrow, Gatwick, and Stansted airports are all easily accessible by train or coach.
Cranfield Defence and Security is approximately 50 minutes by train from London and 25 minutes from Bristol. Bath, Cheltenham, Bristol, and Oxford are all within an hour's drive, and London is less than two hours.
