3 Things all Techies must know about the Future of the Tech industry

If not sooner, technology advances every two to three years. The good news is that we currently have a decent understanding of the major areas that will drive change over the next two to three decades. Therefore, you must be aware of these areas and know how to get ready for them if you intend to work in this business for the ensuing two to three decades.

But let's talk about today first before moving on to tomorrow. The most crucial thing you can do as someone hoping to return to the workforce after taking a professional hiatus is to simply start working in order to get back in the swing of things and make up for any abilities you may have lost during your sabbatical. Just take it on, whether it's a passion project, a job for a friend, or a part- or full-time position with a company that values what you have to offer. The skills you develop while working will be more important than anything else you could accomplish.

3 things all techies should know about the future of the Tech industry

1. We are at the brink of the 4th industrial revolution

The fourth industrial revolution, which is described as the blending of the physical, digital, and biological domains, is just around the corner. Today's smart watches, for instance, can track your heart rate, blood pressure, and sleeping patterns. Even weapons can be produced using a 3D printer. In the near future, your refrigerator will tell your AI assistant to order the kitchen supplies you will soon run out of, all without you having to do anything. Currently, you can control the lighting in your living room while seated in your bedroom.

Together, these phenomena use a variety of cutting-edge technology, including artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, and the internet of things. However, the individuals who work in these fields—whether they be programmers, data scientists, architects, engineers, testers, product managers, security analysts, designers, network specialists, etc.—are ultimately what make it feasible for you. The world will require a lot more of these professionals as these technologies advance, grow, and influence all sectors of society.

2. There are jobs galore in the Tech industry both today and tomorrow

In fact, according to the government of India's official website for IT-ITes skilling, 1.5 to 2 million people will need to upgrade their skills in India alone over the course of the next four to five years. Additionally, this website does a fantastic job of showing the various fields in which technology workers will need to be skilled. It even goes so far as to list the employment duties that each of these fields would require. Even websites like this one discuss the most in-demand job categories for the upcoming years, which range from the more generic Cyber-security engineers, Scrum masters, Cloud engineers, and Data scientists to the more specialised Java, JavaScript, Python, and FullStack developers. Everyone can find something.

3. The sector has been evolving since the 1950s; it hasn't happened overnight.

·        According to this article, there are three major tendencies that have contributed to the development of new technologies, the seeds of which were planted when massive Mainframe computers began to replace human computation. The patterns that prompted this revolution are as follows:

·        High computational power: In the 1970s, a device that weighed close to a tonne and took nearly 16 square feet of space was required to store 5MB of data. Today, even little USBs the size of a baby's thumb have 1-2 GB of storage space, so contrast that with the past. The ability to have increasingly sophisticated, interconnected systems like IoT powered by AI/ML, which eventually could be able to manage the complexity that the human brain does, is what we continue to strive for as we race to create even better, faster machines.

·        Better connectivity: The world has come a long way in terms of connectivity since the days when prehistoric people travelled vast distances on foot, when ships served as the main mode of transportation over long distances, and when you can conduct business or speak with someone on the other side of the globe without leaving the comfort of your chair. This has improved communication between people, which has increased innovation and increased reliance on technology for connection.

·        • Massive data collection: The aforementioned two have produced a wide range of applications and devices that people use for a variety of purposes, including navigation, self-monitoring, and staying connected. This has led to the creation of a number of industries, most notably the one that analyses this data to mine insights.

You now know the Three things that any techie should know. We sincerely hope that you found it helpful and that it motivated you to take the first step towards going back to work.
