The Role of RICE Therapy in Managing Elbow Lesion

For treating elbow lesions, RICE treatment is useful. Rest, ice, compression, and elevation are all referred to by the abbreviation RICE. Depending on the severity of the elbow lesion, each of these procedures can be utilised alone or in combination.

Resting the elbow is the first stage in RICE treatment. Rest is necessary to prevent further harm from occurring to the afflicted region. Additionally, it gives the body time to start the mending process. The degree of the elbow lesion determines how long you must rest.

Applying ice to the injured region is the second stage in the RICE treatment. Ice can assist to lessen inflammation and discomfort. Additionally, by reducing blood flow to the injured region, it aids in reducing edoema. For the first 48 to 72 hours following the lesion, ice should be administered for 15-20 minutes every 2-3 hours.

Compression of the afflicted region is the third phase in the RICE treatment. Inflammation and discomfort are both reduced by compression. It can be done by applying a compression bandage to the afflicted region. To avoid preventing blood flow to the injured region, the bandage should not be wrapped too firmly.

Elevating the afflicted region is the last stage in RICE treatment. Elevation facilitates drainage of extra fluid from the afflicted region, which helps to minimise edoema. To get the most benefit, raise the elbow above the level of the heart.
