Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. The diagnosis and management of epilepsy can be challenging, and there is a need for reliable biomarkers to aid in early diagnosis and monitoring disease progression.


Neurological biomarkers for epilepsy include measures of gamma-aminobutyric acid, glutamate, and cytokine levels in blood or cerebrospinal fluid, as well as brain imaging techniques such as MRI and electroencephalography. These biomarkers have shown promise in identifying the severity of epilepsy, predicting outcomes, and monitoring treatment response.
