What is NDA?


The full form of NDA is National Defence Academy. NDA first institute is in India located in Pune. NDA exams are conducted by UPSC twice a year. NDA Exam Overview

Eligibility Criteria:

To appear for the NDA examination, candidates need to meet certain eligibility criteria:

  1. Nationality: Applicants must be Indian citizens, or subjects of Bhutan, Nepal, or Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling permanently.
  2. Age Limit: For the Army Wing of NDA, candidates must be between 16.5 to 19.5 years of age, while for the Air Force and Naval Wings, the age limit is 16.5 to 19.5 years.
  3. Educational Qualifications: Candidates should have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board. For the Air Force and Naval Wings, candidates should have studied Physics and Mathematics in their 10+2 curriculum.


Structure of the NDA Examination:

The NDA examination consists of two stages:

  1. Written Examination: The written examination is the first step towards joining the NDA. It comprises two papers:
  • Mathematics: This paper tests the candidates’ knowledge of mathematical concepts, including topics like algebra, trigonometry, calculus, etc.
  • General Ability Test (GAT): GAT assesses candidates’ proficiency in English, General Knowledge, Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History, Geography, and Current Affairs.

2. SSB Interview: Candidates who qualify for the written examination are called for the Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview. This comprehensive interview evaluates the personality, intelligence, and suitability of the candidates for a career in the armed forces. The SSB interview process extends over a few days and includes various tests such as psychological tests, group tasks, personal interviews, and outdoor activities.
