Developmental Disorder - ADHD

ADHD is a 'neurodevelopmental' disorder (brain development disorder) that can have an impact on a variety of brain functions. It does not imply a lack of intelligence. People with ADHD can be successfully encouraged to overcome these challenges with awareness, care, and medical treatment.

Children that have ADHD have issues with:

-Problems focusing, problems following instructions, and switching from one activity to another without finishing any of them are signs of inattention.

-Impulsivity, which includes speaking over other people, having a "short fuse," and being prone to accidents

-Overactivity, or persistent agitation and fidgeting

-emotional control

-Social networking

-Sleep.

All young children have short attention spans and may act without thinking, but only a small proportion develop ADHD.

ADHD diagnosis criteria for inattention

A young child who exhibits signs of inattention might frequently:

-not paying great attention to details or making obvious blunders when completing tasks for school or other activities

-have trouble staying focused on tasks or play activities

-refuses to respond when addressed directly

-not carrying out directions

-not complete their chores, schoolwork, or other obligations (but not because they are being obstinate or don't comprehend what is expected of them)

-have trouble planning activities and responsibilities

-Avoid, detest, or refuse to perform jobs that require ongoing mental effort (such as homework or schoolwork).

-Things that are required for duties or activities—such as toys, schoolwork, pencils, books, or tools—are lost.

-be easily sidetracked and prone to forgetting everyday tasks.

A kid may be diagnosed with the inattention component of ADHD if they exhibit six or more of these symptoms of inattention for at least six months (to the extent that it interferes with their daily lives and is inconsistent with the typical developmental level of a child their age).
