Dean is worth introducing here, a British Canadian stock trader, venture capitalist, and angel investor whose distinguished career spans over 25 years in the turbulent waters of the financial markets. But Dean’s influence goes far beyond monetary gain; he also created DarkPool Trading, which sheds light on the complexities of trading for novice investors.

Born on January 5, 1972, in Liverpool, England, Dean has been a succession of transforming chapters spanning countries and sectors. In the early 1980s, he and his family finally settled in Calgary, Alberta, after living in South Africa and Ontario, Canada. His outlook and worldview were shaped by his unique experiences in each of these places. 

 Dean has always been extremely compassionate, even from a young age. After logging more than 5,000 dives and exploring the ocean’s depths, he became an accomplished scuba instructor. His dedication to learning culminated in Advanced Mathematics and Physics from Mount Royal University. But Dean’s curiosity wasn’t satisfied there.

He studied accounting through the CGA in Alberta but eventually changed his major to emergency medicine at the University of Calgary’s Department of Emergency Medicine. He pursued education in several areas, including building and design, for which he earned a certificate in structural drafting from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) in 2004. 

Dean started a new venture in 1997 when he and his father created a program to help scuba divers keep track of their dives. This was the beginning of his entrepreneurial career. Dean’s career as a structural designer for the oil and gas industry grew simultaneously, giving him a deep understanding of the intricacies involved in such endeavors.

The fast-paced changes in the sector pushed Dean to take on a new challenge; the stock market. Dean has spent over 25 years as a stock trader, investor, and entrepreneur, and his journey has been defined by his love of numbers and his determination to learn all he can about the intricacies of the financial markets. He perfected his craft through an in-depth study of the market and attendance at many seminars.

In 2005, he made a crucial discovery through years of practice; he had mastered the art of trading. Because of this collaboration, he expanded his stock market, cryptocurrency, currency, and entrepreneurship activities by establishing Alien Investments Corporation in 2007.

Dean’s career spanned many fields, each marked by his desire to teach others what he had learned. Motivated to equip inexperienced traders with the proper knowledge and support to understand the complexities of the financial markets, he launched Dark Pool Trading. During the peak of the COVID era, the site changed its name from Black Money Traders to Dark Pool Trading.

Dean wanted to pass on his investing knowledge to the next generation, so he developed the Stocks For

Kids program. Due to this creative program, the stock market, investing, and stock market trends were all exposed to kids at a young age. Dean hoped he could help plant the seeds of financial literacy and market knowledge by showing young people how to trade. Describing his vision of the kid’s program, Dean quoted:

“As a parent, I want my kids to have all the success and opportunities available. This is why I created this course.”

On a personal scale, Dean is devoted to his wife, Kristen Dean, who he met when he was working as a scuba instructor. They have two lovely girls together and thoroughly enjoy life in Canada.
