The Makings Of Perfect Fantasy Fiction

It’s astonishing what the power of imagination can create. We see manifestations of this through works of fiction that have mesmerized audiences for years. Thriller, romance, and horror are just a few examples of feats that fiction can achieve. However, among these genres, there is one that truly pushes the boundaries of literature by immersing audiences with compelling characters and world-building.

It’s fantasy fiction!

K. I Price, with her book Chosen: The Path of Heroes, does a brilliant job accentuating the elements that make a good fantasy fiction read.

Let’s discuss how.

Premise

K.I. Price takes us on a journey into Tauzuri Jones’ life, a thirteen-year-old boy who discovers that he is much more than he gives himself credit for and is, in fact, chosen to take on the fiendish Overlord, a threat that looms large in the land of Kambia. The book’s plot is simple yet exciting, inviting fans of all genres and ages to get their hands on it!

Characters

Chosen: The Path of Heroes features one of the most compelling protagonists you’ll see in modern literature. What makes Zuri so lovable among fans is how K.I. makes him so relatable and innocent. Furthermore, how she introduces the council at Kambia, with Empress Zalira and crew, really sets audiences to bask in the glory of how cool these characters are.

Then, of course, we have the four chosen with their own quirks and abilities.

World Building

Then we have the aspect where fantasy fiction truly shines; it is world-building. A well-written world for the characters to dwell in makes the book compelling and immersive. However, while being the most impactful, it is also the most difficult concept to develop in writing a book. K.I. Price answers this notion as she pens down the immersive world of Kambia. From the purple, orange, and red murals to the sun glaring from the west to two moons looming overhead, Price’s descriptive writing techniques are beautiful and a treat for your imaginative capabilities.

Villains

Behind every relatable protagonist is an equally revered villain opposing them. Obstructing the path of heroes, we have the evil Overlord posing a universal threat. With his menacing voice and glaring green eyes, all comfy yet god-like in his majestic seat, he sends chills down the spins of readers. Price builds the Overlord up at the introduction of the book and delivers in full throttle when he eventually makes a full entry in all his glory.

Message

But with all said and done, a fantasy fiction book has successfully delivered when it compels readers to talk about it even after the book has ended. This can only be made possible if an underlying message exists between the lines. Chosen: The Path of Heroes embodies the fact that there is a hero in all of us, no matter who we are and where we come from.

And that is why it makes for the perfect fantasy fiction.
