"Lee Kang-in, Son Heung-min named to AFCON Best 11...3 Jordanians, 1 Japanese in the squad

'Genius midfielder' Lee Kang-in (Paris Saint-Germain) was named to the Asian Cup Best Eleven by Japanese media alongside 'Captain' Son Heung-min (Tottenham).

On Wednesday, Japanese soccer publication Football Channel named 11 players who stood out at the Qatar Asian Cup. Based on official data from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the team selected 11 players who impressed in each position.

With three goals and one assist in six games, Lee Kang-in earned a spot in the midfield in a 4-3-3 formation. "The big reward for South Korea, who were eliminated in the quarterfinals, was Lee's centrality to the team," said Football Channel. "The Asian Cup was Lee's first major tournament as a mainstay of the national team. He scored two goals against Bahrain in the first round. In the quarterfinals against Jordan, it was pointed out that he often lost possession of the ball, 먹튀검증 but that may prove that he is a key man who can make or break a team."

With three goals in six games, Son was selected alongside Jordanian goalkeeper Yazan Al-Naimat (Al Ahli) and Iranian ace Sardar Azmoun (AS Roma) in the attacking lineup. "Despite falling short of their goal of winning the Asian Cup for the first time in 64 years, Son Heung-min played an ace role, playing full-time in every match," said Football Channel.

Two Koreans were named in Football Channel's Asian Cup Best Eleven. Japan, who suffered a shock early exit after losing to Iran in the quarterfinals, only produced one Korean in defender Takehiro Tomiyasu (Arsenal). Jordan, the 'runners-up' who defeated South Korea 2-0 in the semifinals, had three players selected: Al Naimat, midfielder Moussa Al Tamari (Montpellier) and defender Isan Haddad (Al Faisaly).

The team with the most shares was Qatar, who won back-to-back titles. The tournament MVP Akram Afif (Al Sadd), defenders Mohamed Ward (Al Sadd) and Lucas Mendes (Al Wakrah), and goalkeeper Meshaal Basham (Al Sadd) were among the four selections. Qatar won the final 3-1 behind a penalty hat-trick from Afif to win their second straight title.

Football Channel also named its Worst Eleven on the same day. South Korean players included Klinsmannhoe midfield duo Hwang In-beom (Tsubena Zvezda) and Park Yong-woo (Al-Ain) and striker Cho Kyu-sung (Mitwillan).

Japan had the most players with four. They are defenders Zaion Suzuki (Sint-Truiden) and Ko Itakura (Mönchengladbach), fullbacks Yuki Sugawara (Alkmaar) and Hiroki Ito (Stuttgart). The disappointment of missing out on the quarterfinals is reflected in the West Eleven.

China's Wu Lei (Shanghai), Indonesia's Jordi Amat (Rayo Bayekano), Saudi Arabia's Salem Aldosari (Al-Hilal), and Australia's Mitchell Duke (Faziano Okayama) were also criticized for their poor performances.
