How to Restore a Deleted Bitlocker Encrypted Partition
The data kept in the partition of a BitLocker encrypted device can be recovered since it has not been erased after it is lost or deleted. The primary contents of this handbook are as follows:

An introduction

My lap was running Windows 7 (with Ubuntu dual booted). BitLocker encrypted a 120GB partition on disk E:. I ran Ubuntu through a fresh install recently. The partition encrypted by Bitlocker disappeared after the Ubuntu installation. Disk management programs currently display the 120GB partition as unallocated space even though I never formatted it. Since Ubuntu was unable to locate the Bitlocker encrypted sector, I believe the installation destroyed the partition table. Is my data in the lost Bitlocker encrypted partition recoverable?

Have similar circumstances arisen for you? Did you unintentionally remove or misplace the BitLocker encrypted partition from your hard drive? Wow, having lost or deleted a BitLocker protected drive must be difficult to accept the data loss. Give up worrying! With the expert BitLocker Data Recovery software, BLR Data Recovery, the lost or deleted BitLocker partition can be recovered.

Why is a deleted or lost partition recoverable?

A few things can result in lost or destroyed partitions: virus infection, power failure, data corruption, unintentional deletion, etc. Naturally, the first thing you'll wonder after deleting or losing a partition is, "Is deleted or lost partition retrievable?" Yes, is the response. Why, we shall explain here.

When a partition is deleted, the operating system just removes the partition information (we called it a partition table entry, one partition occupies one partition table entry) from the partition table; it does not, as it would take too long, remove the disk space used by the partition. Simply because Windows uses a partition table to identify partitions, you cannot view this volume in File Explorer or Disk Management. BitLocker Partition recovery is still possible because, although the disk space the partition occupied has become unallocated space, it has not been erased.

Guide on using BLR Data Recovery to recover data from a lost or destroyed BitLocker protected HDD

Step 1: Choose BLR BitLocker Data Recovery

Get, set up, and launch BLR BitLocker Drive Data Recovery. Then a screen with several recovery choices will appear. Sort BitLocker Data Recovery mode.

Step 2: Pick the drive to scan.

  1. To find all BitLocker encrypted partitions on the device, please choose the hard drive where you unintentionally destroy or lose the BitLocker encrypted partition and click the "Scan" button.
  2. A pop-up window will ask for your BitLocker password or 48-digit recovery key. To skip entering the password or BitLocker recovery key here, simply click the "Skip" option.
  3. The target device's BitLocker encrypted partitions will be listed by BLR Data Recovery. The password status will indicate if the password or BitLocker recovery key you input in the prior stage matches this partition.
  4. Double click the Bitlocker encrypted partition that was lost or erased after it is located. BLR Data Recovery will start scanning missing data if you have previously entered the password or BitLocker recovery key and they match. Should that fail, a pop-up window asking for the password or BitLocker recovery key will appear. Should the password or recovery key match, BLR Data Recovery will begin searching for missing files after you enter it and click "OK".

Step 3: View and Get Back Lost Files

From a list of files the software has discovered, you may preview detected files by path and type. Select the files you want to recover, click "Recover" to save them. Please click the "Deep Scan" button to initiate the Deep Scan Recovery process if certain files are not located; although it takes longer, deep scan can locate a lot more deleted files.

Finish

The example above demonstrates how simple BLR BitLocker Recovery Tool can be to recover a lost or deleted Bitlocker encrypted partition from your hard drive. Actually, it is a full BitLocker data recovery solution that can restore lost or deleted files from an already-existing BitLocker secured sector. Whether it was damaged during run time or deleted by mistake, you can recover all of your lost data. Strongly advised to anybody who takes data protection seriously.

Note that:

1. To recover data from a BitLocker encrypted device, you have to enter the 48-digit Bitlocker recovery key or the right Bitlocker password.

2. Even with the right Bitlocker password or the 48-digit Bitlocker recovery key, you will not be able to recover data from a highly corrupted metadata section of a BitLocker encrypted drive.

3. Save the recovered files elsewhere than on the same partition that had your lost files. This stops copying of your data.

4. The scanning results are exportable or saveable for next recovery or later.
