How to create clothing that people want to buy

Who wants to spend thousands of $$$ creating clothing nobody wants to wear?

Nobody.

Yet, every year tonnes of entrepreneurs and fashion brands make that mistake. They spend priceless time and money building websites and marketing products that nobody is looking for.

How and why does it happen?

believe deep down most business people (especially the new ones) are massive optimists. This positive thinking drives us to start new businesses, but it also can set us down the path to failure.

We believe our ideas and businesses will work, and that they are destined to survive and prosper.

And because we believe so strongly we skip the important research that will validate our bold and (potentially expensive) ideas.

It doesn't have to be that way — with a little research, entrepreneurs can save themselves blood, sweat and tears.

So how do you do 'that' research?

Well, here's two simple (and free) tools you can use to validate your current ideas and find new ones. Both tools serve one purpose — to check wether a market actually exists for your clothing and products.

Here are the tools...

Google Trends — It shows you the popularity of search terms over time(as far back as 2004). You can use this to find out whether your products popularity is increasing or decreasing (Is now the perfect time to start up that Mankini clothing line?)  It will also suggest other related search terms that are trending, these could be alternative seed/product ideas for your new business. On the downside, you can't get precise search volume from Google Trends, but you can from...

Ubersuggest — This tool (now owned by Neil Patel) allows you to find search volume for your products. Knowing that 1500 people a month in your area are searching for purple jeans as opposed to 590 for beige jeans could make a big difference to your production(investment) choices and therefore profits.

In business there are no guarantees. However, if you do these checks, you'll have a much better chance of creating products that people want and generating sales!
