Without Website Promotion You Might as Well Stay in Bed

Any business that has had a website for more than a month knows that unless people find out about you, your chances of visitors popping in are minuscule. The issue of website promotion is a major factor in the ROI game. So, how do you go about promoting your site and in turn, your business? There is hardly enough room here to give you a comprehensive answer but in a nutshell, you need to become active on social media.

You need three things at a minimum - a business Facebook page, an interactive blog, and either Pinterest or Instagram. You need to post to each of these accounts at least twice a day. It is important, though, to know that your posts on Facebook must be fresh, informative and relevant to your business, your industry or a product related. On Pinterest or Instagram, you need to upload photos with descriptions of what is visible. On Instagram, the most popular pictures are those of employees, business owners and customers doing something that others wish they were doing. Pinterest pictures focus on products and ways to use the product – crafting, recycling, and recipes – for example.

Just as Google has a search algorithm to measure and rank your website’s authority on your topic, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and blogs have algorithms that will determine if you will be included in their “news” updates. Each algorithm bases its results on content, relevance and user interest. The longer a viewer stays on your page, the more interactive the user is with your content and how quickly your content gets a response are the main determining factors for your social media ranking. Website promotion marketing depends on this ranking set since the top three search engines combine their own rank with that of your social media rank to determine if you deserve to be ranked.
