There are many areas of marketing technology that are considered “hot” right now.And yet MarketsandMarkets forecasts that the global event management software market alone is expected to grow from $5.10 billion in 2014 to $7.78 billion by 2019.Despite all the event creation, promotion, attendee check-in, and management solutions available — both at the low end and within the enterprise — many companies still run their respective seminars and conferences exactly as they used to decades ago.In B2B circles, the days of stapling business cards to manually completed “lead sheets” are still with us.Even now, with smartphones and tablets as prevalent as they are, double-entry of attendees is rife, and sales reps have no clue when an “important person” walks into the conference hall.Today, Attend wants to change that for good with the release of a new mobile app that augments its existing event management platform.

Both are designed to be primarily voice controlled - Google Home lacks buttons altogether - and to blend into most decor.Inside, there's WiFi along with a speaker and microphone array; Amazon is particularly proud of the seven microphones that give Echo its precise ears, though it's hard to imagine that Google hasn't given across-the-room pickup the same sort of consideration for its device.Unlike Echo, which is music-only, Google Home will support video streaming too: you'll be able to verbally search for a clip, movie, or TV show, and then have it beamed over to a TV with a Chromecast plugged in.Some of the spoils of that were shown off during Google Home's brief demo: answering questions that, I suspect, would've easily stumped Alexa.I enjoy Amazon's virtual assistant, but her ability to muster up solutions is rudimentary: if she can find a Wikipedia entry for it, you're usually good to go, but anything demanding a more intuitive take gets you "I'm sorry, I don't understand the question" at best. It's also data that, though Amazon could try to help you duplicate, it faces a considerable barrier with: people's inherent laziness when it comes to jumping platforms.
Getting into the smart home hardware business, today Google debuted Google Home, a voice-activated home automation system, at the firm s annual developer s conference, Google I/O 2016.We ve had a few teasers over the last few months and Recode previously reported that Google has been working on a portable speaker containing a built-in voice-activated assistant for the whole family in a prototype called Chirp.Mario Queiroz, VP of product management, introduced Google Home, stating that it lets you enjoy music and entertainment, manage every day tasks and Ask Google what you what to do, via a voice assistant.Consumers will be able to request music in specific rooms or request multi-room playback. It ll not only answer your queries and organize your life, Google Home promises to connect your other smart home devices: lights, thermostat, switches and – of course – Google s own Nest devices, with Querioz predicting that in the future it will control things beyond the home, via the voice assistant function.Apple, Microsoft and Google all have voice-activated assistants, but up until now, they ve been limited to mobile devices.
Anne-Maj Eastern Roman Empire, president of Conveyor and Ruth Westberg, President of Concept. Photographer: Fredrik Karlsson During Elmia Automation presented a new standard solution for the industry; a cell that has been created to pick up and move things efficiently. In the latest standard solution they have used conveyors from the company Conveyor 22nd - We have put together various parts of a standard solution with very good noise level and price as possible, says Ruth Westberg, President of Concept. The so-called visionmataren contains two trappstegsmatare, two feeders and robot and camera from ABB. The idea is that the robot should pick up and put on the conveyors so that things moved and the feeder can service a larger robot cell.
By the fall, I might be able to get my hands on Google Home and let it access and control these devices. His design ethos and approach rather closely mirrors that of the late Steve Jobs.Google CEO Sundar Pichai even tipped his cap to the company when introducing Queiroz, who then announced Google Home: Credit to the team at Amazon for creating a lot of excitement in this space. The devices are increasingly aware of each other.Google went out of their way to show that Nest is a separate company, like Google, said Patrick Moorhead, principal analyst at Moor Insights and Strategy, It has to be embarrassing to Nest to get pre-empted by Home and an indicator that Google's not waiting for Nest to build out their smart home vision. My hope now is that Alphabet sells them to someone who appreciates Fadell s approach to product.
Machines, after all, can perform many manufacturing tasks more efficiently, effectively and consistently than humans, leading to increased output, better quality and less waste.SeongJoon Cho/Bloomberg via Getty Images Of the more than 229,000 industrial robots sold in 2014 the most recent statistics available , more than 57,000 were sold to Chinese manufacturers, 29,300 to Japanese companies, 26,200 to companies in the U.S., 24,700 to South Koreans and more than 20,000 to German companies. The basic economic trade-off between the cost of labor and the cost of automation is the primary consideration.AP Photo/Kin Cheung Other countries that have been rapidly integrating robotics into manufacturing, but not quite as quickly, are Canada, China, Japan, Russia, the U.K. and the U.S. China is an interesting case because it s automating rapidly despite the fact that Chinese wages are still comparatively low.Countries moving more slowly in the adoption of industrial robotics include Australia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Mexico and Poland.German Chancellor Angela Merkel shakes hands with a robot at an industrial fair in 2006 alongside Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Looking to hear about any cool, crazy creative uses of these tools and start a conversation on the subject.
It s a voice-activated device that looks like a small bookshelf speaker and acts as a voice-recognizing, intelligent front end to music and other entertainment, everyday tasks like calendar appointments, Google s search engine and home automation systems like Google s own Nest. But while Amazon can offer the world s largest retail store and content inventory, Google has search and its immense knowledge and product ecosystem.Users access the always-listening device, according to a video shown during the I/O keynote address, by saying Okay, Google. The video, which showed a typical family employing the device in the morning rush to work and school, indicated that Google Home is designed to work with devices throughout a house, including speakers, TVs and lights via home automation.Google Home, which will only support one account initially, is intended for release this year at an as-yet-undisclosed price.More than a dozen services are already integrated, including Uber, Pandora, OpenTable, Spotify, WhatsApp and Ticketmaster.

The company's sales grew slightly in the last quarterCisco Systems CEO Chuck Robbins spoke at the Global Editors Conference in San Jose, California, on Oct. 5, 2015.That continues a trend the company identified in February, the last time it posted financial results. Those cutting-edge outfits keep expanding their huge data centers and adopting automation to cut costs, Robbins said.Cisco s model for future networks is its Meraki division, which sells network gear with cloud-based management and policy. We see a path to deploying that model across the rest of our portfolio, Robbins said. That s part of the company s push to rely less on selling hardware and more on delivering software and services, which generate ongoing revenue.
Google HomeAt its I/O developer conference today, Google unveiled Google Home, a hardware device shipping later this year, and Google Assistant, a conversational digital personal assistant. The Home is a small round gadget with microphones and speakers that's always listening for your questions and commands. It will plumb into home automation, including Google's own Nest, and it will broadcast video and audio to Chromecast sticks; this is all driven by an always-listening voice interface.Google Assistant will be on phones and wearables, too, and Google says that it will be better at picking out the context of what you're doing than any of its competitors.Based on your location alone, Assistant will understand that you're probably referring to the large shiny sculpture in front of you and answer "Anish Kapoor."The Home will be available later this year, though no pricing or availability have been announced yet.
The first major announcement out of this year's event, Google Home is a compact Wi-Fi and voice-enabled speaker centred around Google Assistant – the new all-encompassing moniker for Google's various voice assistant technologies.Watch: Highlights from Google I/O 2016At I/O, Google explained:"You can access songs, playlists, albums, artists, and podcasts from your favourite music services just by asking with your voice, or if you prefer, you can send music from your Android or iOS device through Google Cast..."Video content will work similarly – just ask Google Home to play a film or TV show and it'll start streaming on the telly of your choice.Google Home will support a range of smart lighting and smart thermostat installations, including of course Google's own Nest brand.Lastly, Home will offer all the standard Google Search features, meaning you can ask it about your travel itinerary, commute, daily schedule and more.Stay tuned for more updates including full details of UK pricing and availability, and specsWatch Now: Hands-on with Android NAre you excited about Google Home or does the Amazon Echo still reign supreme?comments powered by Disqus

After Apple s recent milestone, I posed the following question to a panel of business owners from Young Entrepreneur Council YEC :What do you see Apple reinventing next, and how will this change the markets in which they operate?Siri continues to be integrated into Apple products as exemplified by the most recent integration of Siri into Apple TV.The Automotive IndustryApple will either acquire Tesla or create their own hybrid electric and solar powered vehicle, which will of course be self-driving as well.IoT for Home AutomationAutomating and connecting the home as part of the IoT industry continues to be a growing market. While Apple has done some things related to home networking related to entertainment, they might consider getting into other aspects of the home related to the atmosphere, security and functionality. It s a billion dollar industry, probably more, so more people rely on travel and tech than ever.
