Solution 1: Verify the hosting process

  • Since this error often occurs in multi-user environments where a computer (server) acts as a host, you need to ensure that only one computer has the hosting option enabled by following the steps related to each computer or workstation. Ho. Project excluding hosting computers.
  • Double-click your icon and open QuickBooks and navigate to File >> Utilities. You should be able to see the Host Multi-User Access option on the list that appears which means that this computer is not hosting the company file and is safe to move to the next computer. Make sure that if you see this option you will not change anything.
  • If you click File >> Utilities and you see Stop Hosting Multi-User Access, click on this option, which will prevent this computer from being hosted except for the host computer. Repeat this process for all computers except the actual host.

Solution 2: See if proper services are running

  • This solution and the settings below that need to be tweaked are those related to the server computer or host that should have the option displayed in solution 1. Some services are required to run on server computers (QuickbooksDBXX and QBCFMonitorService) at all times, so make sure they are.

If you are using a version of Windows older than Windows 10, the easiest way for you to access services running on your PC is to navigate to the Run dialog box by clicking the Start button.

  • Then you need to type "services.msc" in the dialog box and wait for the list of services to open.
  • If you are using Windows 10, you can also use the services using the Ctrl + Shift + Esc key combination to bring up the task manager.
  • Navigate to the Services tab in Task Manager and click on Open Services at the bottom of its window, next to the gear icon.

After you successfully open the services, follow the instructions below.

  • To sort services in alphabetical order, locate the QuickbooksDBXX by clicking on the Name column.
  • Right-click the service and click Properties.
  • Navigate to Start-up Type and set it to Automatic but make sure that this service status is ON or ON.
  • If the status says that it is stopped then you have to click on the Start button located in the Properties window before proceeding.
  • Next, click on the Recovery tab, first locate the failure option and choose Restart service. This option ensures that the service will automatically restart if it fails. Do the same for the second failure and subsequent failures.

The service should start now and you will have no problem dealing with it in future. However, on clicking Start, you may receive the following error message:

If this happens, follow the instructions below to fix it.

Follow steps 1-4 from the instructions below to open the service properties.

  • Navigate to the log on tab and click on the browser button.
  • In the "Enter Object Name to Select Computer" box, type in your name and click the check name and wait for the name to be authenticated.
  • When you're done, click OK and when you're prompted with it, type the administrator password in the password box.
  • Click OK and close this window.
  • Go back to QuickbooksDBXX's properties and click Start.

Turn everything off and see if the service is running. Repeat the process for the QBCFMonitorService.

Solution 3: Open network ports to transmit data using QuickBooks

Firewalls can restrict QuickBooks from accessing the Internet properly and this is a major concern. Different firewalls can be installed on your computer, but it is not recommended to use more than one.

Let's have a look at how to ensure that QuickBooks files are blocked by Windows Firewall:

  • Navigate to the control panel by finding it in the Start menu and click on System and Security >> Windows Firewall. You can also switch the view to large or small icons and immediately click on Windows Firewall.
  • Select the advanced setting options and highlight the inbound rule in the left part of the screen.
  • Then you need to right click on inbound rules and click on New Rule. Under the Rule Type section, select Port. Pick TCP from the first set of radio buttons (TCP is recommended) and switch the second radio button to "specific local ports. To fix QuickBooks that update functionality, you need to add the following ports:

Make sure you have separated them from the previous coma and click Next after you are finished.

  • In the next window select the Allow connection radio button and click Next.
  • Select the network type when you want to apply this rule. If you frequently switch from one network connection to another, it is recommended that you check all options before clicking Next.
  • Name the rule something that makes sense to you and click Finish.
  • Make sure you repeat the same steps for the outbound rules (choose the outbound rule in step 2).

Solution 4: Host file editing on Windows

  • To add this server to the whitelist it may sometimes be necessary to edit the Windows host file and add your web server there. This is a somewhat advanced process and you should always make sure that you follow the instructions carefully. To proceed you will need administrator access so that you can ensure login with your administrator account.
  • At the server, you need to use the Windows key + R key combination to open the run dialog box.

Then you need to type "cmd" and press enter to open the command prompt window.

  • Type "ipconfig / all" (there is a space after ipconfig) and press enter to run this command
  • Note the host name (computer name) and IP address (this will be either IP address or IP address v4). Ensure that you repeat the process to connect all workstations and computers in a multi-user environment. Rewrite this report on a piece of paper or save it in a text file.
  • The next thing we need to do is just edit the Windows Hosts file.
  • Close QuickBooks and navigate to Menu >> Start this PC.

Make sure you navigate to the following address: -

  • Go to the C: \ Windows \ System32 \ Drivers \ Etc OR
  • Go to the C: \ Windows \ SysWOW64 \ drivers \ etc.

Note: If you are not able to see the Windows folder on this PC >> Local Disk C, then you will need to make sure that you can see the hidden files and folders by following the steps given below:

  • Click the "View" tab on the File Explorer's menu and click the "Hidden Items" checkbox in the Show / Hide section. The File Explorer will display hidden files and remember this option until you change it again.
  • Right-click the host file in the folder choose Open with and open the file with Notepad.
  • Insert the IP location and type in the computer name (server- will have workstation IP and computer name. Workstation- will have server IP and computer name). When entering this information, use the tab key instead of the space bar to separate the IP address and computer name.

After you finish, you can apply the changes and reopen QuickBooks in multi-user mode other wise make a call to quickbooks enterprise support team and quickbooks enterprise support number to get resolutions of error .
