It’s so easy to solve the RTK base station host problem!

We are very glad that the previous article can assist you solve the issues in RTK GPS measurement. During this article, we'll specialise in explaining the host problem that happens during the installation of the RTK base station. I hope that regardless of what brand of instrument you're using, you'll gain tons from it and improve our proficiency in RTK measurement work.

The base station doesn't transmit differential signals:

If the base station doesn't transmit differential signals during the establishment of the bottom station, we will troubleshoot and affect the issues from the subsequent aspects:

  1. First check the hardware and equipment settings. We'd like to make sure that the environment where the host is found isn't problematic, including no serious obstruction, no strong electromagnetic interference, and therefore the correct settings of the hand-held parameters.
  2. If we are using radio mode:
  3. First confirm that the differential light on the panel of the host can flash normally. If it flashes abnormally, check the bottom station settings within the handbook again to ascertain if it's correct. If the settings are correct but the bottom station still doesn't transmit differential, it's going to flow from to a drag with the built-in radio of the base station host (such as poor contact, etc.);
  4. If using external radio mode:

Confirm that the TX light of the external radio can flash normally, and therefore the flashing frequency is according to the differential light on the host panel. If there's no flashing, you would like to see whether the battery voltage is normal to work out whether the external radio is normal;

If using the built-in radio mode:

Check whether the base station features a built-in radio transmitting antenna.

  1. Use rover to line the available radio channel and baud that are according to the base station. If the difference can't be received, it's judged that the antenna at the transmitting end could also be short-circuited.
  2. If we are using network mode:
  3. First, you would like to make sure that the host can hook up with the network correctly
  4. Confirm that the host can log in to the server normally, otherwise you would like to call the relevant personnel to verify whether the server can operate normally;
  5. Confirm whether the differential light of the host can flash normally
  6. After completing the above steps, if our base station isn't working normally, we will pack up and restart or reset the motherboard, or we will refresh the host firmware to make sure that our measurement tools are often used normally.
