Airtrack matte - the best piece of sports equipment for gymnastics

If you are into sport, fitness or gymnastics then you have most likely tried or heard about an Airtrack. Maybe you even own one that you use on a weekly basis out in the garden. Airtracks are amazing if you love to do jumps and flips, and in my opinion much better than a trampoline. If you are a parent and got children who are constantly nagging you about buying them an Air track, since their friend got one, then let me tell you a little bit about what an Airtrack matte actually is.

What are Airtracks?

Air tracks are basically 3-10 meter of plastic which can be filled with Air, creating a track you can use to do gymnastics and various jumps on. They are normally 1-1½ meter wide and 10-30 cm height. When you do a jump on it, you compress their air inside it and as it's trying to expand again, it will boost your jumping power on it. So this means that you will be able to jump much higher than normal when doing stuff on it. This can be a huge help if you are trying to learn a new gymnatic jump or just want to make gymnastics even more fun. An Airtrack matte can also be used for tumbling and fun, jumping around in the backyard or your garden with some friends can be super fun.

Why different sizes on the Airtracks?

You can buy long Airtracks, small ones, thick ones and wide ones, but what are the difference between the various sizes? Let's take a closer look at this aspect.
A longer Airtrack enables you to do more jumps before running out of air track. More jumps often equals more fun, especially once you are no longer a beginner. So for those completely new to Airtracks or gymnastics, then a 3-4 meter is often enough for the first year or so. Some brands enable you to add springboards or landing mats to increase the length of the boards. This is a great way to get another meter or two without having to buy a whole new Air track.

The height of the track is also very important. A higher track can be a bit more difficult to use for beginners, but more height equals more jumping power. And as you get more experienced it's one of the most important features of the Airtrack. For most beginners a 10cm model is often a good place to start, and as you become more skilled you may want to exchange the Air track for a 15 or 20cm one. if you are 12 or old I would say you might just as well get the 15cm to begin with.

The width is important for beginners. A wider air-track means less chance of going out of the track when doing a series of jumps. The more skilled you become the easier will it be to stay on track. I personally wouldn't go below 1.25 in width, 1.5 being the best width in my opinion.

Just remember that the wider, thicker and longer Airtrack you buy, the most expensive will it be. And the heavier will it also be. For younger people this can also be a big issue if the Air track is to heavy for them to carry by themself.

Airtracks are awesome to use. Both for those doing gymnastics but also many other types of sport can benefit from an Airtrack. It's really one of the best pieces of sports equipment you can buy if you want to do more home training outdoor in the garden (or indoor if you have the space).

If you train gymnastics - I would say it's a must. it's an amazing piece of fitness equipment which can really improve your gymnastic skills, help you learn new jumps much faster and make gymnastics much more fun to practice. The perfect gift for any kid who are into gymnastics, tumling, parkour or cheerleading.
