Passing your driving test can be a nerve-wrecking experience

Passing your driving test can be a nerve-wrecking experience. However, there are a number of things you can do to ease your nerves and help you remember all the important information needed to hear the words ‘Congratulations, you have passed’.

Beginnings: Before you even book the test

First things first, have you looked at your Road Rules book since you set your theoretical exam. If you are taking regular lessons, then this should not be an issue, but it does not hurt to brush up on the rules of the road, especially if there has been a change to the rules that you do not know about. Your Driving School will be able to advise you on any changes.

You should also look at your log-book. How many hours of driving have you logged and on what roads, in what conditions. Are you scraping by with the mandatory minimum number of hours? You can never have enough practice, ask yourself honestly

“Have I driven enough hours to sit this test?”

If the answer is no then get back out there, either with a Driving School or a qualified driver, the important thing at this point is to get those hours done. If the answer is yes, and you truly believe you are ready, remember driving tests are expensive and you only really want to take it once, then you are almost ready to book that test.

The Test: Preparation

Ok. So you have brushed up on your road rules and you are now confident that you have enough hours logged to take the test. Great. But where are you going to take the test, what are the usual road and weather conditions? This extra information is important. For example if you are using a Bundoora Driving School because it is close to where you work in the Central Business District but your test will be taken out in the bush, close to home, then despite your experience driving through the city, you may not be as used to driving on the dirt roads near your home. It is therefore vitally important that you think about where it is you are going to take your test.

The Test: Driving it

Once you have decided where you are going to take your driving test, find a Driving School in Bundoora that operates in that area. These schools often have driving test packages that include a number of minutes or hours in lessons before you take it. When booking your package make sure you tell them that you want to your lessons on the route in the driving test.

The Test: Taking it

Even if you could do the driving test with your eyes closed, you may still feel nervous on the day, this is perfectly natural. Try building a rapport with the driving instructor, if you feel comfortable around him or her then you will be much more relaxed, will enjoy the experience more and are less likely to forget something important.
