The Impact of Road Crashes on the Social, Economic, and Psychological Status of People

Almost all drivers, vehicle owners, and passengers are well familiar with the consequences of fatal road crashes and collisions that take place due to a large number of reasons and conditions. But, only a few of them have an idea that each crash or collision that takes place on the highways, carriageways, and roads of any country has a direct connection with the economy of that country.

The road network authorities across the globe are striving hard to prevent such accidents and crashes by installing driver feedback signs and the deployment of other methodologies but still, the rate of on-road crashes is not coming down.

The life of those dependent on the injured or disabled have to pay a price

The drivers, vehicle owners, and even passengers who get seriously injured, disabled, or die in such road crashes by ignoring Electronic Speed Signs very pathetically affect the lives of those who are dependent upon them. There are also instances where the people who met an accident on road did survive but with a lifelong disability.

Under such a scenario where the main breadwinner of a particular family gets seriously injured and disabled, the near and dear ones around him have to spend a lot of their savings on the big-fat hospital bills. Such dependents also go through social as well as psychological trauma.

Some startling facts revealed by a World Bank study

A recently concluded World Bank Study says that if the people and road network authorities of any country make collective efforts to prevent such road crashes resulting from the negligence of Driver Feedback Signs, they will not only add substantial long-term gains to their income but also contribute to the economy of the country. This fact is 100% true particularly in terms of middle-income countries.

The countries which were parts of this study include Tanzania, Thailand, India, China, and the Philippines. It was also quantified by this study that any investment that is made in better road safety measures equals the measures made in human capital. The study has also revealed that the nations that don’t invest in road and public safety measures are destined to lose a whopping per capita income. Therefore, all the policymakers of the developed countries always focus on better road safety and allocate budgets on the installations of more and more Driver Feedback Signs and other such devices.

What should be an ideal approach?

  • More and more Electronic Speed Signs must be installed alongside the roads and highways
  • The law enforcement agencies must ensure the strict implementation of such laws and devices
  • Different types of road safety campaigns must be organized by the designated government bodies
  • Political willpower must be shown to prevent such road crashes and collisions.

Concluding Remarks

Just installing Driver Feedback Signs and Electronic Speed Signs is not sufficient to minimize the number of road crashes. The implementation of the rules and regulations should also be ensured very strictly. It is the moral duty of the general public also, especially the vehicle owners and drivers, that they always remain particular and dutiful towards the rules, regulations, and traffic laws of the land.
