This question is common in the mind of all aspirants. Due to insufficient guidance lot of students fails to build a career as he expects.
Candidate has to lock their target first, which means what he wants to do in his life if you are interested in the Indian Army only then this article is very important for you.
I will explain the all ways to join the Indian army as an officer and a soldier.
Why should join the Indian army?
Many of them just think about the Indian army as a job, but don’t take it lightly because when you think to join the Indian army then you will get high responsibilities which should not be compared as a job.

UPSC Entry
The candidate after passing or appearing in the 12th standard applicable for these entries
National Defence Academy (NDA)
For joining the NDA candidate have to qualify for the exam conducted by the UPSC. The candidate will be commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Indian army.
Vacancies: 320 twice a year.
Specific posts for the Indian Army, Navy and Air force are
Indian army = 208
Indian Navy = 42
Indian Air Force = 70
Eligibility
Only male candidates are eligible for NDA.
Education
10+2 pass (Physics and Maths are compulsory for the Air force and Indian Navy)
Age: 16.5 to 19.5 years.
Marital status: only unmarried candidates are allowed for the NDA.
Selection Procedure

Training: The total training period for the NDA is four years. Three years will be completed in the National Defence Academy at Pune and the remaining will be completed in the IMA Dehradun.
Cut off
Pre-exam: 350 to 380.
Interview: 700 to 730.
TES
Candidates who want to join the Indian army as engineering core should go with TES entry.
Only male candidates are eligible for TES entry in the Indian army.
Vacancies: 90 twice in a year
Eligibility
Education
12th pass with 70% with Physics Chemistry and Maths.
Age: 16.5 to 19.5 years.
Marital status: Only unmarried candidates are eligible for this entry.

Training: The training will be completed in the OTA Gaya.

IMA
The format of this entry is similar to the NDA.
Here only male candidates can apply for this entry.
Vacancy: 200 twice in a year.

The candidate must have unmarried till full training.

Training: The training of the candidate will be held in the IMA Dehradun for 1.5 years.
OTA entry
Here males and females both are eligible for entry.
Vacancy: 175 per year
Eligibility
Education
Graduation from any university.

Candidates are not permissible to marry-until full training.

NON UPSC ENTRIES
SSC JAG entry
Indian Army gives opportunity for the candidates who studied in the Law.
This entry is open for the male and female candidates.
Vacancy: approximately 10 twice in year
Eligibility
Education
Graduate with LLB with 55% marks. Eligible for Registration with Bar Council of India / State.
Age: 21 to 27 years.

SSC NCC ENTRY
This is a special entry for the candidates (male/female) who have the NCC certificate.
Vacancies: 50 twice a year.

The candidate must have cleared his/her graduation with aggregate 50 marks. Also, candidates have to serve at the senior division level with minimum B grade.
Age: 19 to 25 years.

TECHNICAL ENTRY SCHEMES
University Entry Scheme
A candidate who wants to join the Indian army, but fails in the NDA have another chance to enter from this entry.

Join Indian Army as a soldier
Candidates who are not eligible for joining as an officer have other option as soldier.
Every year for each state Indian army releases notifications for the candidates.
