The relationship of sociology to technology has been given little attention by the student of sociology. The relationship of sociology, however, to biology, to Psychology, to geography, has been a subject of great interest from the very begging of science.

Sociologists study the social interactions that result and how they are impacted by different technologies. Sociologists study how technology affects cultures, social organizations, and social relationships, but also how individuals, groups, and organizations use and modify technologies for their own purposes. The import of social and technological interaction has been a subject of controversies over the year with two sides having different view of it. Technological determinists believe that technology determines the trend in social changes and history. Social construction of technology also criticizes technological determinism and this comprises of two elements of which the first is; technology develops autonomously and secondly that technology determines an important degree societal development. Technological determinism implies a poor research strategy and this was argued because it entails a linear, teleological and one-dimension technological view of development.

Technological determinism suggests that social and political interventions in the course in technology are impossible and this makes the politicization of technology to be of a futile endeavor. We live in the age of technology. We commute by automobiles and airplanes and communicate by emails and mobiles. The media and the Internet provide us the latest information from all over the world.
