Essential Things to Know About Temporary Graduate Visa

Temporary Graduate Visa for Australia or subclass 485 visa is meant for international students who have recently graduated from a registered Australian educational institution and have completed a CRICOS-registered course. This particular visa lets the holder live, study and work in Australia temporarily after they have finished their studies. It must be noted that a student can be granted the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) only once as a primary applicant.

Here are some of the most important things you must know about a Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485).

Streams of Temporary Graduate Visa

While there are many important things you must know about the Temporary Graduate Visa, the first and the foremost thing to know is that it has two streams:

  • Graduate Work Stream
  • Post-Study Work Stream

Yet another important point to know is that the applicant (and anybody else covered by the application) must be in Australia when this visa is applied for and when the decision on their application is taken.

Eligibility Criteria

There are many criteria you’ll need to qualify in order to be eligible for a Temporary Graduate Visa; the first one being age less than 50 years. Furthermore, the applicant must hold a valid student visa when applying for Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) and should score overall of 6 bands (or equivalent) at least in English language proficiency (IELTS), with no band less than 5.

The applicant must also meet Australian study requirements and must also maintain adequate health and health insurance for 485 visas. A police check certificate may also be required in some cases.

Documents Required

The applicant must have all the documents ready to prove his/her identity along with visa, qualification, insurance, English language proficiency, etc. Failure to provide any of the document(s) may lead to refusal of visa. For an updated checklist of documents required to get a Temporary Graduate Visa, please feel free to get in touch with our MARA agents.

Visas are complex processes and require a professional approach for application. It’s not a thing that can be done by anyone inexperienced or a rookie. Therefore, it is suggested to hire a registered MARA agent if you wish to apply for any kind of visa. Taking professional assistance increases the chances of visa results being positive, and it’s definitely worth it.
