Shri Ramana Maharshi

Ramana Maharshi Born:

A village named Tiruchuli, some thirty miles south of Madurai, has an ancient Siva temple about which two renowned Tamil saints, Sundaramurti and Manikkavacakar, have sung. Sundaram Aiyar, an uncertified pleader, and his wife Alagammal lived in this hallowed village in the late eighteenth century. This ideal pair was marked by piety, dedication, and kindness. Sundaram Aiyar was a charitable man who went above and beyond what he could afford. Alagammal was the epitome of a Hindu wife. Venkataraman — afterwards known around the globe as Ramana Maharshi — was born to them on December 30, 1879.

It appeared to be a process of reasoning when Bhagavan Sri Ramana Maharshi later related this event for the benefit of his disciples. But he was careful to point out that this was not the case. In a second, he realised what he had done. He had a direct perception of the truth. 'I' was a very real thing, the only thing that existed. The fear of death had fled for good. 'I' continued like the fundamental sruti note that underpins and combines all the other notes from then on.

Ramana Maharshi Teaching:

The followers of Arunachala Ashrama feel that spiritual practise (sadhana) is vital in light of Sri Ramana Maharshi's life and teachings. Those who devote themselves to the practise of meditation, Self-enquiry, and devotion can find peace, joy, and immortality. The Guru's Grace is constantly available, but only a few true sadhakas (spiritual aspirants) who devote their life to the practise of the teachings can completely experience it.
