Baking Shop Puts the Spotlight on Halloween Treats

Bakers and confectioners are warning that the evil hour is coming. Homes transform from pretty flowers and decorations in the suburbs to haunted houses with spider webs. Men and women of all ages buy and make costumes. Who should you be this year? Your favorite superhero or a bunch of grapes? Oh, the possibilities are endless.

Kids are getting ready to go door-to-door collecting candy. Pumpkin buckets are filled with candy bars and purchased candy, but why not make it special this year and give them some delicious homemade treats?

These Halloween-inspired treats are a hit with kids and adults alike, just like the treats at the bakery.

Mummy's Mouth

Take a handful of red apples, such as McIntosh or Red Delicious, and slice them without peeling them to remove the core. Take a piece and cut it lengthwise again. Place one half on a plate, brush it with peanut butter and spread the marshmallows on top. Smear one side of the other apple half with peanut butter and place it on top of the marshmallow. The result will look like you gritted your teeth.

Tombstone pudding

Pour the chocolate pudding into a clear cup. Crumble the Oreos and place them on top of the pudding. Take a handful of round cookies, like Nutter Butter or Vienna Cake. Coat the cookies with RIP frosting and place them in the pudding - a chocolatey treat that everyone will love.

Pumpkin Muffins

There are many ways to decorate your favorite cupcake (we recommend pumpkin) to give it a spooky look. You can make an orange frosting and decorate each cupcake to look like a jack-o-lantern. This would be a fun activity to do with your kids and their friends. Prepare the cupcakes with orange icing and let them paint their faces with black icing! For a spider web effect, you can also cover the cupcakes with icing in the color of your choice and then draw four circles in contrasting colors (like a tree circle). Using a toothpick, draw lines from the center outward, like the spokes of a bicycle. This creates the effect of a spider's web.

The best cakes bakery owners wish everyone a safe and happy Halloween with lots of sweet treats. And don't forget that for special occasions, the store's owners will prepare and decorate a cake to match your Halloween or another theme.
