Travel Checklist to Keep Yourself Healthy

Planning a summer getaway – don’t forget your sunscreen, swimsuit and flip-flops. Also, don’t forget to follow some basic tips to stay healthy on your trip and not end up with diarrhoea or a cold and land up in bed, the entire time.

Travelling to other cities and countries during the pandemic is not the same as it was two and a half years ago. These days, travel involves getting a Covid-19 negative certificate, quarantine time, vaccination proof and adherence to the destination country’s protocols. While some additional steps need to be taken when travelling during the pandemic, most part of the travel checklist remains the same.

Here is a travel checklist that will help keep you healthy, regardless of whether you are out for business or leisure.

Covid specific checklist

First and foremost, keep a few pocket hand sanitizers handy in all your bags. This along with surgical masks as well as N95 masks should also be packed. It is always good to keep some extra pocket hand sanitizers in case you run out of them and a few extra masks because it is good to change the mask every few days.

Prescription medicines

Any prescription medicines that you take daily and medicines for comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular or any renal diseases must be carried along. If you require insulin, diabetes testing instruments, inhalers etc. it is imperative that you carry them wherever you travel.

Generic medicines

This list would include medicines that are good to have for common scenarios such as headaches, muscle pain, diarrhoea, motion sickness etc but you may or may not need them. One must carry some form paracetamol for headaches or slight fever (Dolo, Crocin etc), antacids (Digene, Eno, Pantocid), sprays or balm for joint and muscle pains (Volini, tiger balm) and motion sickness medicines, cold medicines, cough drops or suppressant, anti-allergies, decongestant and stomach issue medicines.

Medical supplies

One must carry requisite supplies such as glasses, contact lenses, inhalers if you are asthmatic and EpiPens for those with severe allergies. Other supplies should include mosquito repellent creams such as odomos or mosquito repellent patches and first-aid supplies such as crepe bandage, gauze, antiseptic liquid, cotton and some band-aids.

Apart from this don’t forget sunscreen, sunglasses, a sun hat and some aloe vera gel in case you get a burn. Rehydration salts are a must as well. Planning a trip is always fun but what fun will it be if you land up falling ill while the rest are out having fun. One must make a habit to keep their hands clean and use a hand sanitizer or wash their hands frequently. Be it a hand sanitizer 5 litre pack or a pocket hand sanitizer, hand sanitizer has you covered for all your sanitizer needs. Next vacation remember your holiday for all the fun you had and not how sick you ended up. Happy packing and bon voyage!!
