Why learn German Online

There is currently an ever-increasing number of people who are very interested in learning German. For a variety of reasons: They want to move to a German-speaking place to work. They want to brush up on the language knowledge of their ancestors or they are simply interested in a new language.

German in particular, however, is not the easiest language to learn. As Oscar Wilde's famous quote "Life is too short to learn German." suggests, German is impossible to learn in one lifetime. However, this does the German language an injustice, because if you take a closer look, German is one of the most straightforward and logical languages in the world. you only need to have decoded the matrix once. 

Germany and the German language are known to have had a great deal of influence on the development of mankind through more than 1500 years of history. So, what is the best way to learn a new language like German?

Of course, it is always easiest to learn a new language at school but what should you do if you don't have the opportunity or simply didn't take it at school back then? The first way would probably be to go to a language school, as this is where you can expect to make the best progress and learn German most effectively. But language schools are not for everyone; many people spend a lot of time at work, have other things to do on the side and simply don't have the time or the opportunity to be at a certain place at certain times on certain days of the week.

It also often happens that language courses at schools or institutes are very full, so the learning groups are relatively large. This has some disadvantages: You have to adapt to the speed of the group, you may not always be able to ask if you don't understand everything and you often don't get to speak enough - i.e. practise conversations. But this is one of the main reasons why you learn a language in the first place. You want to communicate in that language.

Especially nowadays, you don't have to go to a school, but you are free to choose and you can learn very efficiently web-based, you can use your computer/laptop and let Google translate vocabulary, for example. However, do not do this with complete sentences. Even Google has its problems with the German language, especially with longer sentences. You can find all kinds of course books, online programmes, practice pages with links, apps and much more on the internet... for example online German teachers.

This is where online teaching comes in. The advantages are obvious: you can usually arrange your appointments flexibly. If you work with a private teacher, you can usually also determine the number of lessons and the teacher can concentrate fully on the students, adjust the pace, leave individual space for exercises and answer questions. If teacher and students also get along well, this is probably the best prerequisite for learning a new language. For example, you can choose a native speaker teacher with whom you can talk about a variety of topics, such as how to ask for directions, make small talk, how to shop, how to give a presentation, and so on.
